My 20 yr old daughter (then she was 18) had an iud put in after being on the OCP & getting a 1.2 metre blood clot - starting halfway down her calf & going right up to her heart - so she was taken off the pil & put on an iud. She had nothing but problems with pain etc & them about 3 or 4 months after having it put in she had severe tummy pains etc & ended up in hospital with a burst ovarian cyst. Then aboit 2 or 3 months later she started bleeding heavily & was having severe tummy pain, so bad we had to take her to emergency room. The IUD had caused a UTERINE, NOT ovarian but uterine, cyst which had ruptured. She had it removed & pit on a different ocp & shes had no issues sice!

I’m not registered as indigenous, even though I am half and we know who my father is, he was just a bad man so I have had nothing to do with him since I was a year old and my mother left him. So the registering as an indigenous person to the government (which would be easy, just have to get a lawyer and access to my birth fathers records) and being claimed by our people has always been a heavy thing on my mind, people doubt me all the time because I look more like my mother who is Irish and Ukrainian(ironically she grew up on a Rez, my birth father did not), and the person who gives me my identity as an indigenous person is someone I want nothing to do with. But the idea I could be rejected and doubted by those I am tied to scares me so seeing Buffy Sainte-Marie having had connected with “her” people and being accepted was a huge heartwarming thing for me. But it coming out it may be all a lie is like a slap in the face. I admired her so much and loved her music, now I just feel sadden.
