Hi Emmy! (Sorry for the delayed comment, I have to catch up on your videos after a busy summer!) So great that you went to a cottage and got some sketching done, and had the discipline to continue even with your anatomy studies! I went to a cottage earlier this month, and brought my paints and sketchbook and had all these good intentions, but ended up doing nothing of that. 😞 I really liked your paintings - I especially liked how your colours turned out. Keep it up! 🙂

Hi Emmy! So cool - I love your ideabook! I hope you'll get good use out of it, and would love to see another video of it when you've filled it up with all your creativity. 🙂 I will also keep my eyes open for that book - looks really fun! I've made a few of my own similar types of ideabooks (which I just call junk journals but ideabooks sounds classier, lol), and agree, it's very fun. And also, I'm pretty sure I have that exact same pad of bright splash cardstock! 😂

A good alternative for ordering Korean textbooks to TwoChois is HangeulPark. They have a larger selection of textbooks, the prices are lower since there's no mark-up, and (at least for my country) the shipping is cheaper too. The only thing is that HangeulPark doesn't have popular books like for the drama Goblin, but for textbooks I think they're a much better option.

Please don't take the Lord's name in vain. One person I know who is enthusiastic about the WOF Bible describes it as being great for people who find the Bible overwhelming and that it "spoon feeds" them in his words, I am not sure that is the right phrasing since it doesn't treat you like a baby or dumb it down but I think the idea is that it makes it feel easier to delve into for those who would have a hard time sitting down with the plain text.
@EmmyMW4 ай бұрын
I'm truly sorry if it has come across to viewers that I'm taking the Lord's name in vain by calling this Bible an art book and concentrating mostly on the "superficial" aspects of the Bible, namely the pieces of art in it. My channel being an art channel, my intent was to share my real-time reaction to the paintings, etchings, etc. and as you can see from the video, I was truly excited to see how the beauty of the art work reflects the beauty of the Word of God. To quote Bishop Barron, the "aesthetic beauty of art shows the power of God in Christ." And I do agree in the observation that WOF makes it easier for someone who might be intimidated with just reading plain text. WOF is an evangelical organization so this Bible making it easier for a non-Christian to at least open up a Bible and read is most likely intentional. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. I appreciate it🤗
@Ransome16904 ай бұрын
@@EmmyMW I don't know how art can be considered anything superficial when it's the most beautiful thing you can possibly have in this world capable of telling meaningful stories and bringing joy and inspiration to other peoples life and without it I would've more then likely taken my life by now. Art has genuinly helped me through some really rough shit in my life a whole lot more than religion ever did. In some areas of christianity like the pentacostal belief they actually teach that it's wrong for men and woman to wear certain clothing and look a specific way, like men are not to have long hair, woman are not to wear pants for any reason, neither are to wear jewlery or ear piercings of anykind etc. Then they try to shoe horn in some spirital crap about your body being some sort of temple for this "god" when in reality the whole focous around that is about as superficial as it gets. Not to be an attack on you, but I can't stand comments like the OP's who act like you can't talk about their precious spiritual book in any other way even if the referral is in good taste just because it's "the lords book" give me a break.
@EmmyMW4 ай бұрын
@@Ransome1690 Thank you soooo much for such an insightful comment. To be fair, I am not still totally sure with the OP's first sentence. I re-watched the video to see if I said something inappropriate and when I didn't hear anything that might be construed as offensive, I assumed that that's what she meant🤷🏽♀ And what you said about religion and some of its aspects totally resonated with me. As someone born Catholic, I've certainly had my ups and downs with how I felt about my faith, even at one point considering converting to something else. I am now in a place where I feel at peace with my relationship with Catholicism. And yes....I 100% agree with what you said about art being such an inspiration and a shining light for so many of us. Perhaps, "superficial" should not have been the word I used, but unfortunately, some do see it as such. Thank you so much again for your comment:)

No, that is not an art book. It has a few illustrations. That is all. Books have had illustrations since the invention of the printing press in 1440CE. An "art book" is something else entirely.
@EmmyMW4 ай бұрын
Thank you for taking the time to comment:) And yes...many people would probably agree with you that it's not an art book. I do, however, think it is, especially now that I've read some of the essays. It's the same way I consider (for example) Van Gogh's bio by Naifeh and Smith an art book even though it's a biography. It has only a few illustrations, but talk in detail about Van Gogh's process and art, so I learned a lot about art too. Word On FIre is kinda the same for me....especially after reading the essays. I learned about the art of some of the works of these artists, albeit the interpretation did have a religious slant🤗

Im starting the same book and am just totally confused on how to use it. Do you just copy whats in the book, or do you copy it and try to memorize the anatomy at the same time?
@EmmyMW5 ай бұрын
Hey there! With these anatomy books, what I usually do is start off with a few master studies and just drawing the body part(s), and then do studies with each body part labelled. I didn't do it as much labelling with the Burne Hogarth as I previously worked with Artistic Anatomy though, but if it this is the first time someone is working with an anatomy-specific book, I would suggest doing more drawings while labelling each part to really remember them. HTH:)

@GarbauxM5 ай бұрын
To be honest... They look aweful already in the morpho-book, i dont understand How that Will Hell anyone draw better. To teach someone draw besutifully i think they need to draw beautiful themself in the book. I searched for flip through drawing portrait atelier by juliette and found your video. I see that you have difficulty drawing What you SEE, they say many people draw What you think you see, not What you actually see because we have a way of THINKING something look a way they don't really. So if you haven't already there is a book called "drawing with the right side on the brain" look it up and see if it can be for you. I think it can. Also, you don't have enough values. You said you didn't really know what you did wrong. You kind of didn't have any midtones at all. Just light and shadow. So you need to add some more tones and learn to gradient :) there is a KZbinr called Jason Legendery art who I really like! He does videos where he doesn't use that many products/pens. I recently saw one about how you shade your portrait which was GREAT bc I want to be better at realistic portraits. He did a GREAT job saying/explaining how he draws and how you should do. Like layer 1 you use heavy body-pen, the lightest and he shows where to hold the pen and how it looks different depending on where you hold it! Layer 2. 2B & last layer 3 4B You blend every layer. I don't think you did this. And I think this will help you. Also he draws in circle instead, I think you should try that! He also said one smart think, why learn to draw the face by FREE HAND when
@GarbauxM5 ай бұрын
Ops pressed the wrong key. I was saying when you are already doing such a huge job trying to learn to shade correctly, getting it to look realistic. Then maybe you should freehand the face aswell, there is nothing wrong with tracing/transferring or even printing outlines. But I don't have a printer or anything. So I can't do that. But if you do, there is nothing wrong with waiting until you have learned the shading. Also adding charcoal powder, really adds another dimension. And lastly, remember to not do lines. The little light outlines you did you should shade away. Because no face and no body have any lines if you look at it. If you look at other peoples art, look especially on if they have done lines or not. You will see that everyone who has lines even like on the nose or around lips they will look like cartoon. And you will notice that no one who look realistic have any lines. That was the first best advice I got when I started :)

It really shows how art is so subjective, as one's pet peeve can be someone's cup of tea. Anyhoo, thanks again!

Hello. I have a problem getting into drawing which I wanna do for fun but wish to learn in a serious way. I'm overwhelmed but all the things to learn. I often try and study too many books or courses at once, making it stressful and unable to enjoy the process, just doing and thinking about the assignments and trying to get thru them as fast as possible. I've seen your consistent work. Do you have any tips on how can I get back into drawing but focusing on one topic without being distracted, getting the most I can out of it without rushing? Thanks
@EmmyMW8 ай бұрын
Oh I can totally relate! It took me awhile, through trial and error, to actually have a system going for me. This is the main reason why I ended up doing the "atelier style" of learning (but self-study instead of having a teacher). I was all over the place and really had no idea. When I read about the atelier-style, which had very specific steps, that's when I kinda found my groove, you know? Without knowing the style of art you want to do, I do always recommend focusing on the drawing basics, which from the sound of it is what you're doing now. Once you have been doing that awhile, even if you think your progress is not what you'd like, I'd say move to the more "fun stuff" like painting. For the atelier-style, after the Bargue plates, there was a lot of monochromatic studies before painting with colour, and I think that's a great step. I did end up doing these simple paintings while doing the Bargue plates just because I was really itching to paint. Hope this helps. Know that you're not alone!🤗
