Parts are still about for those reels, but there are a number of variations of that gear. So would need to compare it to a selection to find the correct one.

We did do a test on a reel by putting in the shop bait freezer for around ten minutes, minus 30degrees. But could have taken less time. Plus on a beach windchill lowers temperature a lot.

Just above the bridge my wife and I saw the biggest barbel that we have ever seen and we have both caught double figure barbel and would estimate the fish to be comfortably over 20lbs being both wide and deep as it rolled slightly.

nice video, are we able to fly fish in close season? march to june ?
@tackle91411 ай бұрын
Like every river in England and Wales fishing is not permitted in the close season, March 16th to June 16th inclusive. Plus like any freshwater yoh need an environment agency rod licence. Very substantial fines for fishing in closed season or without a rod licence.
@tackle91411 ай бұрын
I believe but not certain fly fishing is allowed in the trout and salmon season, you do need a game rod licence.

Seeing as I've lived in Bournemouth for seven years now, and had family here all my life, I should probably know the area better. It looks like there could be (on a calm day) some fun fishing for the mini species on the groynes there. Bass fishing for the big, tough boys too, though that's not quite my kind of thing. Maybe some tiny freshwater fish a little up the bunny, if there are a few yards where one can get away with that. Wild fish are the best, no matter how small. Thanks for your posts. A few of us are watching, I am sure we all appreciate it.

Fond memories of the bridge my father was a relief operator in the sixties and I can remember going with him and fishing from the maintenance pontoon under the bridge for bass. He was bases in the old cottage by the bridge and he had to go up the left hand tower to operate it. There was a manually operated lowering mechanism in case of power failure. The ships used to give three blasts on their horn when they were entering the main channel to let the operator they needed the bridge opening.

@tackle914 Жыл бұрын
Difficult one to tell without seeing what you've done. Does the spool spin freely, is the handle turning ok, when you press the spool release does it pop back up when you turn handle. If so could be pinion gear not engaging, possibly you clipped it in wrong groove on the carrier . There's another video on my channel with a complete strip and rebuild for these. When you remove the handle side unit you should see the pinion move when pressing release button and project noticeable from plate when turn handle.
