Hi. As a web developer who focuses on accessibility I have an issue with the main example you give in this video. The suggestion to use alternative text "Jessica and her awesome rescue cat Salem" seems to me to be a misleading advice for the audience. That's a text suitable for caption of this image, not its alternative text. It contains information which is not direct part of the image (name of the cat, ownership of the cat, origin of the cat and the cat being awesome), so visitors not using assistive technology will not be able to access it. If an image deserves such description (and I believe that you and Salem do), then it should have this text in its caption, not in its alternative text. The alternative text can then remain blank or contain some additional description of you and Salem, so that people can visualise you two a bit ("Jessica has red hair and glasses, Salem is a black cat with yellow eyes"). The last part is something I'm not completely sure is the best idea, opinions from the people who actually need assistive technologies is their lives matter here. But I'm sure it's not hurtful, as it's an individual image and the bloating of information on the page is minimal in such case. I felt it's necessary to mention this, as alternative text should not contain extra information which is not part of the image. But it's the way how many people implement it or create the content. And that's still the better scenario, there are much worse like surrounding text (e.g. heading) being repeated and used as alternative text of an decorative image after it. Or already mentioned images with alt attribute missing completely. Thank you for any reaction to this. BR, Jiri

About time someone added a comment about this video. Too often when you ask about web accessibility, the knee-jerk response is 'fonts and colours'. But accessibility is SO much more! I send this video to everyone when I'm trying to get the message across - it explains the whole gamut of accessibility better than any boring web pages or formal guidelines.
