The characters are from my personal dnd campaign (my PC is the drow at the end)! I currently have a couple of animatics about the characters on my channel, and I’ll be making more bc I love these boyes The audio is from a KZbinr named Danny Phantom, you can find the original by searching “Danny phantom what happened to me hero villain” or some variation of that. He makes great skits! :)

@@sunkisseddrow of course! I adore them! Plus some of your stuff inspired me with my drow boy when I first started this hobby! They have a special place in my heart since then!! I actually want to see about playing a bard in the future at some point because of your work. Not usually my first choice of a class but definitely inspired now. Also I just love that last part of this short. It reminds me of my wood elf for my rp/storytelling heavy campaign.

@@sunkisseddrow wood elf is a samurai fighter but a linguistics nerd. The party jokes they are a super spy because of all the languages, the fighting skill, but also because my character has proficiency in painting, calligraphy, and forgery tools. They aren’t wrong. My character is something of an anthropologist field researcher for their faction (cobalt soul from the critical role world which we play in). One of the main tragic aspects I built my wood elf around is their extreme guilt over the loss of their fiancé and the fallout from it. I wanted to tell a story of learning to live with grief. Not revenge nor conquering it, just living with it. The situation is that their fiancé and them were attacked by a remorhaz in the wild and my character was the only survivor. They managed to retrieve the body of their beloved and return it to their fiancé brother, but the brother, in his own grief declared a feud on my wood elf and said that it’s all their fault that his brother was dead. It wasn’t, it was a situation beyond anyone’s control. My character takes this to heart however since, one, they were always parentified eldest child who’s toxic family always had them taking responsibility for things they shouldn’t, and two, because my wood elf is extremely vulnerable right now after the loss of their beloved, their helplessness, and the trauma and survivor’s guilt they have after such an incident. What’s more, the fiancé brother was once a dear friend of my wood elf too. This continues to have some fall out as my character lashes out in their own grief towards their mentor and says things they shouldn’t, just to emotionally hurt her, to which the mentor realizes they really don’t have the skill set to move my character past this grief and goes and leaves them with a friend of theirs for a few years. And this is around when the war begins. Something I neglected to mention is that the fiancé and the fiancé’s brother are both drow and the nations at war are a predominantly human country and a mostly drow country. My wood elf is located, through their faction, in the human kingdom. This only further leaves my wood elf feeling isolated since they can’t even talk about their late fiancé without putting themself at risk and possibly being accused of being a traitor. Something that they very well could be considering their knowledge of the language and the sword of their fiancé that they carry. So far, the party has only just learned that my character had a fiancé, knows undercommon, and one of the three swords they carry is the sword of the late fiancé. This was a particularly wonderful reveal between my wood elf and the party monk. The monk is actually an ex-soldier of the human kingdom and has become disillusioned by his homeland. When he made the connection that my wood elf studies focused on ALL elven languages and culture, he made the accurate jump that this meant drow languages and culture too. This is why he asked my character to teach him because he wanted to learn about that country’s perspective and figured it would be locked behind a language barrier. The scene really highlighted the character development that the monk had gone through. But yeah, that’s my wood elf character! It’s why the last part really hits home for me and makes me think of my wood elf. Their mentality is very much a ton of self blame. They also are rather unmoored feeling as their choice to become engaged and marry their fiancé was also them making a leap of faith to reach out for a life they fully chose and wanted, pure (healthy) selfishness, which they had so rarely in their life. So it meant so much more than agreeing to marry their loved one. It meant making a decision fully for themself. And then the lost it all. That’s the grief I’m trying to convey. It has my character often in a position of advice for our predominantly human party since they will encourage the party to try to not live a life of regret like they have and are protective of the agency of each party member. They also have a sense of recklessness and desperation when things get tough in battles too, which is part of their remaining trauma from the incident. Honestly, my wood elf is my current favorite character to play of the active campaigns and characters I have. I’m definitely keeping that drow bard idea in my back pocket as a back up for any of those campaigns however! I hope you enjoyed my sharing all that. Lol, like most I tend to get super excited about being asked to share my story of my character.
