Had 2 of these land on our ship USS Tripoli while overseas on WESTPAC 87. LOUD! Heard em down in the EngineRoom!

Indeed, subtle they were not. That's a non-afterburning 24,000 lb thrust turbofan with wings and a pilot nailed on.

I like the harrier over the f-35 I don’t like how the f-35 has that vertical fan. The harrier uses one main engine to vector thrust flow on front and rear.

True they should have made the harrier replacement a dedicated program separate from the f35. F35 is still a much better jet overall though in terms of performance in all metrics.

And it's a 24,000 lb dry thrust engine. Most fighter engines can only do that with an afterburner. They're 15,000 lb dry.
