I like the second theory. She saw the wedding but not her grandchildren. I like to theorize that Chili’s mom had a serious health problem when she was younger but managed to get better the first time. It came back and the outcome wasn’t so great. My late uncle had an enlarged heart and was able to get surgery done that gave him about 5-10 years-ish before the problem will be an issue again. I imagine Chili’s mom having something like that. This would explain the memory block when she was younger cuz it was a very scary time of possible loss of a parent and that place has a lot of good memories for her.
