Hey, will this process work the same in 3ds Max 2014? I keep running into trouble when trying to use the loft feature. Edit: Never mind. Had to click on the circle after pressing get shape.

why didn't you create a straight tentacle? would be better.
@AudaciouslyDeluded10 жыл бұрын
I had the same thought but then if you think about it: one IK chain in a straight tentacle...
@jellyvideos64356 жыл бұрын
you have swivel angle or you can just slightly bend it to the desired direction before creating ik

I found for low sound vids (proly depending on your OS), you can go into Control Panel, Sound, Select the check-marked sound device, click properties, select enhancements, and add a checkmark to Loudness Equalization (default is off) - this makes it much louder on my comp. ;)

Also might be good idea to change shape steps and path steps to 1 in skin parameter options before applying editable poly and turbosmooth (cuz otherwise it makes too many polys)
@AlienScribble11 жыл бұрын
At 2:34 after setting path to 100 percent you may need to go to deformations and select scale (a window will pop up) - now move the little control dot on the right side of the line down from 100 to 0 to get the taper effect.

Tip: when editing the seams, select one of these edges, click 'loop', deselect some edges if necessary and click 'convert edges to seams'.

how did the tentacle changed at 2:34??? I might have missed something, just like Tchyrizel, can anyone help me out?
@koltscats4 жыл бұрын
for those still curious, he actually created a second circle, a very small one, when he made the first. Once you set the path to 100 percent, select get shape again, and choose the smaller circle this time. max will then take the size between the big circle, and the little circle, extrapolating the final shape. (that percentage tells max where you want to place the shape along the spline)

lol, turn on captions and have fun while watching this. Wanted to watch something else while doing this tutorial and...yea XD

I might have missed something important here (and this is a bit of a necro post), but how was the tentacle tapered at 2:34?
