It doesn’t look that bad. It looks like a feature length film because it’s in widescreen. 🎞️

Back then we had less people getting struck by trains & a lot less fences. Why? Common sense.

Wow, my goodness, it looks great in widescreen! I cant notice any sign of cropping or anything different from the original 4.3. Which I have on a dvd. Must watch again. Well done!

I have a childhood Lima model of a similar Diesel as on this video No. GM 32 Australian National Railways. Recently I discovered there is an error on the locomotive model as it has the horn placement as on top of the cab like the US design where as the Aussie ones were on the bonnet in front of the windscreen. Just never knew all this time it was incorrectly placed.
@DEVILTAZ358 күн бұрын
I have been inside the cabin of the 3801 and talked with the driver down in Thirlmere after it was restored recently. Sadly it is back off the rails again awaiting parts. I never thought I would ever see this video looking this incredible on an OLED TV. Thank you so much. I was born just 3 months after this trip started. I think what also made these documentaries so special was the exemplary work done by the narrators back then and even earlier ones from the 50’s and 60’s. Like our National News from the 70’s and 80’s their voices just resonated so much more than what we see and hear today.

My Pop (former fireman at Pelaw Main and Broadmeadow) had this video when it was first released, and if I didn’t watch it a hundred times at their house with him it was a thousand for sure. Today would have been his birthday and I’m the ten years he’s been gone it’s been a bit of a tradition to watch it today - I can’t thank you enough for not only going to the effort to revive a classic but for absolutely making my day. Merry Christmas 🎄

I’m touched. I think the trip is a special piece of Australian railway history, but as you’ve highlighted, sometimes it’s also a special piece of one’s personal history.

Great to see 4532 still out earning a dollar. Tuesdays 8936 Manildra Group bulk flour train had three loco's MAN003, MAN002 & MAN001, left the yard a couple of hours late. B61 belching a lot of smoke, not good for the environment and company image. New Chinese two pack hoppers giving Manildra Group heaps of strife too, hence the old MGFH's pressed into service. Great collection there, enjoyed it, well done.

You can see me recording the same Manildra train in the Molong part between 4:03 to 4:43. Went to say g'day by asking "how did you go filming from your angle?". Now I know why you stated you were in a hurry as this is a fantastic video to watch. Keep up the good work and all the best for your future videos. Here is a link to mine of the same train at the angle I filmed if interested: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnPbkKxjnMuMZ6Msi=qipZQ0wV6ckBYXfL

The traffic on the Gr8 Western Hwy making more noise than rail traffic
@pndvd2 ай бұрын
Yes; it's becoming very difficult to avoid traffic issues on the GWH, especially when you're trying to use spots that are quick to get in and out of and on the right side of the sun; the speed restrictions around extensive roadworks also add to the difficulty.
@louiskats51162 ай бұрын
Great video especially 4 x SD 40's working hard in perfect configuration. Unfortunately I read somewhere for the C Class to operate in NSW they had to muffle them to reduce the exhaust note. Typical NSW taking the fun out of it, it would be that more awesome if they were not muffled like Big George C 501 Great video
@pndvd2 ай бұрын
Yes, the muffling has reduced their distinctive growl, but they still sound much better than most when powering up under load

In 1978 there was the “Calvacade of Transport” in Melbourne and I queued up to walk through the new C501 at Spencer St Station. Was a surprise that a few years ago C501 was restored or refurbished. Would it be fair to say that all of the 10 C classes underwent refurbishment? I don’t think any were scrapped. In the 1980s the N and G classes were sold on a lease back plan but apparently none of the Cs were sold at that time. Maybe a leaseback plan was only suitable for new locomotives and the Cs were nearly 10yo by then.
@andrewdenny55712 ай бұрын
None of the 10 have been scrapped. After initially being mothballed due to high fuel consumption, thankfully the C Class is back in service, mostly with SSR. C501 is 'preserved' with Seymour Rail Heritage Centre but see regular active service on spot hire to operators.

I'll be honest, I have the worst luck when it comes to SSR's coal trains. It was only a month ago I saw VP14 for the second time with the same locos as the first: CEY001, CEY007 and SSR102. Never ever seen quad C's on an SSR coalie before and I've seen (a counted total of) 67. Thanks for uploading this so I can see the things I never have the luck for!! :)

@pndvd3 ай бұрын
My plan was to shoot scenes over the two and then put them together in location order to get a fuller coverage of its run to Moss Vale. When I saw how they were marshalled Saturday and Sunday, I thought about whether or not I'd still do so or put them in chronological order. I decided to stay with my original plan but I did, however, choose locations to minimise the number of switches from consist to consist.
