I would so love one with the manual gearbox and overdrive. Either engine would do. This is a true work of rolling art.

Yes indeed and in a nice color combo silver with red leather and even a Webasto sunroof in a seeming good condition, but best of all it was a turnkey & get in and drive it car. I watch all your Jagman videos & have a house on NSW central coast & another on the VIC Mornington Peninsula, and I know Lou as well. My Jag is a 1967 MK10/420G in actual cream paint (not white) and Oxblood leather (special order color) which is a thicker but softer more expensive optional Connelly leather, when I bought it in 2012 it was a one owner log booked 50,020 mile car it was so good it was transfer ownership and use almost daily !!

It is said that the creators of the XJ6 did not know what they had created when the world demand outstripped the supply of this car . It made all other makes and models obscolete overnight . With the advent of the series 3 V12 , came a car that no other manufacturer including Jaguar themselves could better and so didnt try . How could they ? so they all went off in different directions thinking the buyers wanted sharper suspension , more gadgets , noisy exhaust notes etc etc , when in fact , the customers who bought the XJ6 didnt want anything else .......and they still dont today .

I must admit I always thought the series three was bloody awful. I just can’t admire for a moment the upper body work. It just seems too high and not sleek at all. Now the xj40 on the other hand was a thing of beauty. I’ve had two and love them.

I do like the XJ40. It retains all the charm of the classic models but with a more modern body style.

My wife had a Mk1 xj Daimler soveriegn and he was right about those low profile radial tyres,they were a life saving game changer. I had a Rover 3.5 coupe on it's original cross plys and it would go into a 4 wheel drift on a wet roundabout that was on my regular route from work, I fitted a set of those dunlop XJ white band radial tyres which not only made it drive as though it was on rails even on said roundabout but looked beautiful.it is a great shame the way Jaguar has been turned into a laughing stock.

@LouGuthryMotorsАй бұрын
Not enough people bought the cars. Over the last 25 years they’ve tried to compete with the Germans firstly with X & S Types then E & F range and failed primarily due to poor product planning. The cars were good but it took the until 2016 to release an SUV, 14 years after the Porsche Cayenne when a re-bodied Range Rover was a simple option. It also took until 2023 to introduce a hybrid when Land Rover had hybrids from 2013 and the technology was available within in the group.

The worst of it is, the XK, XJ, XJS and F-Type continued the history of magnificence. Engineering and stylistically, Jaguar was and still is brilliant. It’s management. With the exception of a brief respite from ‘86 (end of the BL era) to probably about ‘15 or ‘19, Jaguar had real hope. Its independence, the Ford era and the Ian Callum era really saw the top models of Jaguar return to form. Yes the X-Type, lower variant S-Type, XE and XF models were a misstep, and the whole SUV thing, while necessary, is depressing. But in terms of XJ? XJS? XK? F-Type? Project 7? Project 8? Anything with the Supercharged V8? The XJ220? All brilliant designs, badly managed. And now? Well let’s reserve judgement for an actual production model…but, if history is anything to go by….a brilliant designed ruined by bad management.
@LouGuthryMotorsАй бұрын
Jaguar is faced with a big problem. The current range was not profitable and the customer base is ageing. What a glorious brand Jaguar was! What shame, cause bad marketing strategy the iconic brand is going down.
@LouGuthryMotorsАй бұрын
Not sure if marketing is to blame, sure the new ad was strange but the real issue has been poor product planning. They’ve tried to compete with the Germans firstly with X & S Types then E & F range and failed. The cars were good but it took the until 2016 to release an SUV, 14 years after the Porsche Cayenne when a re-bodied Range Rover was a simple option. It also took until 2023 to introduce a hybrid when Land Rover had hybrids from 2013 and the technology was available within in the group. Now they need to try a radical approach.

For some of us of a certain age these "Jags" will always be the real deal. Where did it all go so wrong. Todays Jags just look like any other Euro box and to think they will be removing the " cat badge" whoever thought that would be a good idea. Goodbye Jaguar it was nice knowing you.
@LouGuthryMotorsАй бұрын
Electrification is standardising everything. Historically you would buy a car because of the way it is engineered. A 911 Porsche for the flat six, a BMW the pure driving machine, a Merc for the engineering, a Jag for grace, space and pace. Why buy a Porsche Taycan over a KIA EV6 GT when the only thing different is a badge and an interior? Over the last 25 years Jaguar tried to compete with the Germans and failed. JLR is hugely profitable, banking £1.1 billion in the first half alone driven only through the Land Rover brand, this is not a struggling company. The options for the Jaguar brand were to either fold or start again. Time will tell if this is the end or a new beginning.
