It's so nice to be reminded of the days when marching band was still band, rather than an indoor show with some incidental wind players.

In addtition to the other Pocono Mountain performances on KZbin, the 1998 show and 2001 show can be found on google.video.com, the former by searching under Pocono Mountain Marching Band 1998. The 2001 performance can be searched for with "Pocono's Last Dance," the band's final performce. (FYI, the school's fight song is also used by the University of Wisconsin).

Pocono Mountain warmed up--and warmed up the audience--with Play That Funky Music, performing in the end zone before running onto the field. I don't have a video of them doing that, but I do have them playing it in the aisles at the post-season indoor "Stadium Review Concert." Search on "Pocono Mountain Play That Funky Music."

I'm English, I have a Nephew serving on HMS Albion, a young Dad and I am so very proud of him as I am proud of all our serving men and woman both in the UK and US, I salute the bravery and compassion of you and of naval families that have lost loved one's or have loved one's in service. May whatever god or gods you worship keep them safe. I too thank you all for your dedication and service god bless America and god save the Queen.

Yup, did that. I thought I knew a lot of singers but had never heard of this gentleman. An Australian baritone-bass who passed away in 1961. So many singers sound so mush-mouthy, it's a treat to hear someone who had old-school training and respect for the language. A real find - and they have CDs of his on Amazon! Thanks for answering me!

Look him up on wikipedia. I can't say if all the details are right but you'll get the main idea. I'm told that this recording was made sometime in the twenties. If you listen at the beginning you can hear the scratching of the needle in the groove of the old 78. The reason it works well, I think, is because of the old-fashionedness of the singing emphasizes the eternal nature of the plea. Thus it will always be with those "who go down to the sea in ships" and those who wait fon shore.
