Finally, I thought I was he only one who noticed. When I watch British shows always these confirming phrases all the time: "Isn't it?', "don't we?", "Haven't we", "musn't we?", "Can't we" etc.

I'm a Spanish speaker but I like more the British pronunciation. Yes, I know Spanish has a lot of R but our R is strong and the American English R is too soft so I prefer ignore the R lol. It's very difficult to me. Words like "literally" "water" "better" "earth" or "word" are soooo difficult because they are very soft and British English sounds "harder". Plus. British English is the original pronunciation and sounds better.

The typical sound of Received Pronunciation is, of course, /əʊ/. It can be accompanied with /ɒ/, thus: RP long "o" vs RP short "o". That is what you should discuss in your future's video, I think. Thank you.
@receivedSE
@receivedSE 2 жыл бұрын
To non-native speakers, British English /ɔː/ is heard exactly like Netherlandic-German long "o" sound [oː], as in Du./Ger. brood/Brot [broːt] (bread). British /ɔː/ has reached the sound quality of [oː] and even [uː]! To ears of people who are accustomed to hearing American English, British /ɔː/ is found in such words as "don't", "no", "coat".

The Tigers from Japan employed RP when singing "Smile For Me" and "Rain Falls On The Lonely". In some of their famous songs, ABBA from Sweden employed RP, too. The Cats from The Netherlands employed RP in singing their song "Without Your Love". Nana Mouskouri employed RP in singing some of her songs. Connie Francis from The USA tried to sing her album "Connie Francis Sings The Songs of Les Reed" in RP.

For Dutch people with 'Gooise-r' accent, General American is easier if compared to RP because they employ American-r in speaking Dutch.
