The little cemetery is the Lequire Cemetery. Keep walking down to the creek then follow it to the right and theres the Graveyard Hill Cemetery

It is so very important to not only tell the stories of the past - but to see these places as they were back then. Preservation of our histories is vital to pass on to the next generations so they can see how life was and hopefully keep telling the stories. Thank you so very much for this video - it brings a sense of peace along with determination to face the future from the strength of those who lived before me. 💖

I have been to both; I actually visited Caves Coves first-which I can not wait to be done and over with. A couple years later, I visited Roaring Fork-I absolutely love it because of all the trees, creeks, hiking trails. To me, there is no comparison between the two. I don’t think I will ever revisit Caves Cove.

Thank you for the video! I really enjoyed it🙂 We will be in the Smokies for the 1st time , the end of October. My tendency is Cades Cove, but if we'll find the time, we will also do Roaring Forks...All the best to you and your family. Greetings from Germany

Great video. As for the house with 3 front doors, my Grandfather had a house with 3 front doors for fire safety.. If the house catches fire they wanted to be able to get out. It also gave extra ventilation in the summer. Thanks for giving us a preview.

Roaring Fork! I love the streams and the sound of rushing water there. I have also seen several bears on the drive.. The best time to go is in the late afternoon early evening. I like Cades Cove for the history, and the open meadow at the start. but the actual scenery does not compare to Roaring Fork for me. The bears I have seen at Cades Cove have been off in the distance.

Have a Gatlinburg trip planned this May. Would love to do both but isn't Cades Cove much further than Roaring Fork from Gatlinburg? Also, planning to drive from Cherokee to Gatlinburg as we are flying into Asheville..
@asseeninthesouth Жыл бұрын
Yes. Cades Cove is about 30 miles from Gatlinburg, but well worth the trip.

I'd choose cades cove....and then I'd hit parsons branch road... don't like the crowded parked cars on roaring fork.
@asseeninthesouth Жыл бұрын
I tend to agree. The problem with the parked cars should be resolved soon with the implementation of parking passes.

If not a fan of heights and roadside drop offs, then your best bet is Cades Cove. Both are great to visit and offer great photo opportunities of historic buildings.

We moved to Walland in September a year ago and have visited Cades Cove maybe 30 times, Roaring Fork about half that. Based on our experiences, for bear sightings, Roaring Fork. We've observed bears every visit. Our favorite is Cades Cove. The late afternoon sun hitting the mountains, especially this time of year, never gets old.

Both are very special places for various reasons but I do lean towards Cades Cove as my favorite.

I would choose Roaring Fork a million times over Cades Cove. We visited Cades Coves on our first trip to Gatlinburg and we were sorely disappointed. The crowd is just too much. And it looks like some of the back roads here where I live so it wasn't as exciting for us. Roaring Fork was like a paradise with all the rock filled creeks, rhododendrons...just beautiful! Roaring Fork is one trail that will always be in our itinerary.
