I saved this car, it would probably end up in parts if I hadn't bought it. It has rust issues, it had a crash years ago and it has a front corner welded in from another car. Overall the chassis is in a pretty bad shape

@@herendii with regular maintenance, probably yes. If it's automatic, condition usually will be better. Problem is that these engines are not as desireable option, as gasoline six cylinder, so they usually get neglected and swapped with gasoline engines at some point.

@@neesmuparedzeets Does the engine have a software modification or does it work with the factory computer? Is the cylinder head also standard? Is the valve standard? How is it holding up? Because the weak part of these is that if you push too hard, it will crack. I have a 324TD (E30) and I would like to boost it (~150 HP max)

Is it stock hx30w? i exploring my option for my IDI 2.8 diesel that i would like to put turbo on, but hx30w is off of 3.9 diesel and mine only 2.8 and i was wondering how's the spool gonna be? is it gonna be laggy or not because mine is smaller displacement than 3.9 4bt

It's stock turbo. But the biggest version of hx30w which is sometimes refsrred as Super hx30. It spools quite fast - around 2000rpm which is only ā bit later than stock 2.4td turbo

At that point i had a stock exhaust without middle silencer and some random sport muffler at the end 😂 also had a governor mod that allowed me to rev the engine to 6k rpm

It starts to boost around 2000rpm, full boost around 2500-3000. I suspect that with ported head and rebuilt engine it should start to boost a bit sooner😂 i had to make an adapter from two t3 flanges that are welded together in 15degree angle to raise the turbo and tilt it to the side. I also modified stock e28 turbo oil pipes - basically just extended them. And welded different flange to stock exhaust and end extended exhaust couple centimeters so the flange is couple centimeters highert

Don’t really know about engine, it’s a junkyard swap. Car itself has around 270000km. This is my second engine, previous one has a corroded cylinder, cracked cylinder head and i blew up the turbo

Everything is mostly stock, except shocks and springs. Rear is bilstein b6 with lowering springs, don’t know the manufacturer tho. Front is Meyle shocks with some random lowering springs.

Mine is on a stock exhaust manifold, but it’s quite a lot bigger than stock turbo so i needed to make an adapter to raise and tilt turbocharger. So it sits higher now and is tilted 15degrees away from the cylinder head. I also had to extend oil feed and return lines. For oil feed it was just extending rubber hose. For return line i welded in a piece of pipe to make it longer.

@@toneelspelertz it was a turbodiesel from the start. I blew up stock turbo and put on a bigger one. I have stock td exhaust manifold with adapter welded from two T3 flanges to raise and tilt turbo couple of centimetres and about 15degrees to clear the valve cover. I have mostly stock exhaust - I welded different flange at the turbo and made the downpipe couple of centimetres longer. I also modified stock turbo oil pipes - made them longer. And relocated inlet of intake manifold, so I can use intercooler.

@@waffentreager6286 yes, i’m thinking about raising the boost, injection pump delivers enough fuel for more boost. That’s why it smokes 😄 i will raise the boost on next engine probably, need to build another engine with stronger head bolts and gasket, this one is completely stock and probaly won’t handle more boost. I’m not planning dyno anytime soon - need to do some other stuff before that

Im currently rebuilding mine and choosing on a turbo that will spool fast enough, i blew the gasket after 3 years of 1.7 boost on stock turbo and it pressured the system which blew the expansion tank, I overheated it for like 50 meters and now i have warped engine block and head, resurfaced the head it had no cracks which is surprising, now i have to pull the block to resurface and check if any dmg is done or cracks in passages. How fast does the HX30 spool in yours? from what rpm does it start and at what does it hit full boost?@@neesmuparedzeets

1,3 bar, stock engine with intercooler, no problems with cylinder head so far. Blew one head gasket, but it was a cheap and shitty one. Injection pump has 11mm rotorhead from Nissan 2,7diesel, camplate from BMW 2,5tds and governor mod.

Thank you for reply ! How many of them did you put? what kind of section did you use ? So camplate is from M51 engine ? I am planning the pimping of my my old tranny with pretty same mods … MLS head gasket, Raceware head studs, the VE upgrade with 11 or 12 mm elements and HX30 or HE221W.. She’s already intercooled… Did you install a better tank lift pump ? An exhaust temp controller ? Your advices are very welcome ! From the Belgian M21 lover

@@frani1236 i put washers under two longest springs of governor. Don’t remeber how many exactly, but i can compress them just a little bit only, so the governor is very stiff 😄 yeah, camplate is from m51, rotorhead is 11mm from Nissan - part number - 9461618910 (needs a little modification, 2holes drilled). Otherwise stock engine with biggest version of HX30w, boost starts around 2000rpm, so not much of a turbo lag.

It revs all the way up to 6k thanks to governor mod. It’s one of the cheapest and most efective mods to get more fuel from the mechanical fuel pump. All you need is a couple of washers or stiffer springs for governor and probably a new gasket for the top part of the pump 😁 stock governor starts to drop fuel around 4k rpm and after that rpms go up slowly up to 5k. With modified governor, you get very much fuel in all rpm range.
