Coated metal halide bulbs are better indoors than clear because they are less glary and still very bright, they are also easier on the eyes. I don’t get why people use clear MH indoors. They work great outdoors but indoors I think coated is a much better choice.

There is only one solid state control. The other switch is to go from running automatically with the HVAC system to manual override.

This looks similar to the setup that the church my family attends had. Same fans; brown HRS L-356s. except there were only four fans above the sanctuary and a fifth in a cupola above the altar. Unfortunately the fans over the sanctuary disappeared around 2019ish, but the cupola fan remains.

That ceiling is stunning. The people seemed dismissive and not friendly. I could be wrong. Just my perception. You said it may take a bit of back and forth for the demonstration, and the man went strait to high, like, “Here ya go.” Cool fans, valid points from you, and amazing architecture.

@@shivamgandhi5779 The 1981-1985 ones made after the Union era are Taiwan imported made and the 1986-present were China imported. The 85 motors are thicker and larger diameter and the blades are wider with three rivets on the blade arms and can fit on the Union motors. The modern Goldlines have a little bit smaller motor still cast iron and narrower blades with four rivets squared U shape blade bracket vs triangular brackets.

An interesting thing about probe start metal halide ballasts is that they seem to do a better job of running mercury vapor lamps in colder temperatures compared to using standard mercury vapor ballasts because as the temperature decreases, the starting voltage of mercury vapor lamps increases. This is because probe start metal halide ballasts usually have a higher OCV compared to typical mercury vapor ballasts. Even before metal halide lighting was around, I have found out that some older 400W H33 mercury vapor ballasts apparently have an OCV that is similar to that of modern 400W M59 probe start metal halide ballasts of around 300V or so because they were designed to provide enough OCV to allow 400W H33 mercury vapor lamps to run more reliably in colder temperatures. This means that should you have a 400W H33 mercury vapor ballast that is specifically intended for cold temperature applications that has an OCV of around 300V or so, you should be able to retrofit any 400W H33 mercury vapor fixtures using those specific ballasts to run 400W M59 probe start metal halide lamps without having a need to change the ballast and only needing to change the lamp depending on the ambient temperature. But if the fixture has a regular 200-250V OCV 400W H33 mercury vapor ballast and still want to upgrade it to 400W M59 probe start metal halide, you would still need to replace the ballast with a 400W M59 probe start metal halide ballast to properly run 400W M59 probe start metal halide lamps.

Seeing this yardblaster fixture only running at around 155W total certainly seems like it never does a good job at properly running 175W H39 mercury vapor lamps. I have an American Electric R175M yardblaster that seems to draw 195W of power on a 120V supply, which means that it properly drives 175W H39 mercury vapor lamps.

The controls for the upper fan display is the same but the controls for the barn display have been changed
