I may stand corrected, but in an interview she mentioned this being written away from home and it being a song of homesickness. I've been homesick for my mom since 1996. Lisa has kept me closer to her ever since.

This is exactly how I interpreted the video. The wolves couldn't save him. He's lost in the middle of an isolated mountainous, snow covered forest. The wolves offered him comfort and company in his last moments. It's so interesting to me that many viewers interpreted the video to mean that the wolves saved him.

I used Sanvean as the closing music for a memorial service video I created for my late wife in 2009. The video included numerous photos and video snippets and was my last gift to her. One of the other music pieces I included was Sting's "A Thousand Years." If you're not familiar with the song's lyrics, I'd encourage folks to check it out.
