@VirtualAviationAviator22 күн бұрын
As one who's flown both, I can tell you that both have really deep systems modeling. However, they're hard to compare because the airplane missions are so different. Both are more immersive than any other aircraft I've purchased and flown. I can say, however, that the Challenger is a much more study-level aircraft than any other sim aircraft available.

Very nice video Frank! Remember when flying VFR to fly at the correct altitude depending on your direction. Anything 0-179 degrees is odd (1500ft, 3500ft, 5500ft or 7500ft etc) and 180-359 is even (2500ft, 4500ft, 6500ft or 8500ft etc). As you may notice from the above, all VFR traffic flies 500ft over the thousands and this is to maintain separation from IFR aircraft. The same odd/even rule applies for IFR except you fly at thousands instead of the aforementioned VFR altitudes. In this video you should have reduced your altitude to 2500ft to adhere to the VFR altitude instead of levelling out at 3000ft as your cruise heading was 202 (odd). Enjoy!
@VirtualAviationAviator2 ай бұрын
You are absolutely correct. Any altitudes over 3000ft requires that you fly easterly at an odd altitude or westerly at an even altitude. However, the rule does not apply under 3000 feet. At 3000 feet, the rule you mentioned should have been applied and I should have climbed to 3500'.
@airplane-alex-list2 ай бұрын
Agreed! Nice video! The cfr's, specifically 91.159 you refer to, can be confusing, but in this case it only applies if you're cruising _above_ 3000 ft. So even at 3000 you can cruise in any direction, turns out!
@PilotLH2 ай бұрын
@@airplane-alex-list Thanks for the additional information there- the VFR directional charts published online always show altitudes under 3000ft so was unaware of that rule. As the cloud layer was above at 3500ft, Frank made the correct decision to descend to 2500ft where the directional rules do not apply and to avoid a violation flying in IFR conditions on a VFR flight by climbing into cloud. That is assuming Frank was simulating not having a an instrument rating for IFR flight of course! He was also descended more than 1000ft below the cloud base, which was correct to do so, so great decision making there also Frank! Lee

Forgot to mention, all five of my batteries are discharging at the same rate which gives me about an 30 minute run time
@VirtualAviationAviator3 ай бұрын
I can't figure out how to get all five of mine to discharge. Did you do anything to get it to use them all?
@jeffwells18103 ай бұрын
For me, luckily it just worked. There are some keyboard settings that deal with the battery. I did a search on "batt". One of them is "recharge the battery". I mapped it to Ctrl + Enter. It will set it back to a full charge. There are other battery settings there, don't know if any on the other setting could help. I had a lot of fun flying it but still can't hover and land. I did find out if you land in water, it did not crash. I practiced landing/hovering in the Chesapeake Bay. Also chasing the new boats that are in the new beta. When you are able to hover over them slowly, you can really see a lot of details. Hope you can get it figured out because that is a great idea, it's a great aircraft to go slow and get details of the outside. Don't know if you could reload that aircraft in the Airplane folder would help. I think you could make some great videos with it.

Using your suggestion to map keys to recharge and toggle all batteries, I'm able to fly it now. Thanks Jeff.

@VirtualAviationAviator3 ай бұрын
That's a good question. I live alone and I spend a fair amount of time on the simulator. Having something to talk to during my flights adds to my enjoyment. Shirley is subscription based at $10/month so it's relatively expensive. As far as Shirley's technical prowess, I can tell you that it's evolving and getting smarter. They have recently added the capability for Shirley to touch and move the control: Lights, Flaps, Gear, Etc.. There are somethings that I think needs to happen to make Shirley less annoying. AI is a new field and there is rapidly evolving. These AI developers are breaking new ground; I'm delighted to be a part of it.

Its a differnt beast. In VR, I prefer X-plane. The lighting looks awesome and the cars on the roads are very clear and looks amazing. I have MSFS but there's something cool about the clarity of things close to the ground even tho the buildings dont really match their real world counterparts. I guess if you want to fly more than sightsee then X-plane is fantastic and I think people should own both and support smaller developers that actually care about the hobby and aren't all about big business and generating visuals for xbox players.
@EncounterTC2 ай бұрын
@@joeynuggetz I like to fly and sightsee. Just like in real life. ;-) MSFS's purpose isn't to generate visuals for XBOX players. Imagine that being your business model... They are trying to make the best flight simulator out there. There are parts of it that are fantastic and there are parts that needs work. Flight modeling has come a LONG way even in the past 6 months and aircraft developers have stepped it up as well.
