Until the tensioners take a crap and the timing chains jump...destroying the engine. Then there's the carbon build up from the direct injection...

Well, that's some crap bias... 10 Best from GM? Make some videos on the BMW engines featured on Ward's Best Engines list, per year, decade, etc. 🧐 Instead of mediocre "Domestic" vehicles with engines and parts made in every country except USA... Chevy=Opel/Renault. Ford=Mazda. Dodge=Mitsubishi. If American companies would actually make good engines, they wouldn't buy "lowest cost per unit" engines from a third-party. 😂

@@WardsAutoVideo Interesting watching the Best Engines shows. Some “whoops” there. Cummins 6.7 - now multi-billion EPA emissions nightmare. And in 2011 with the 2L TDI awarded by Wards. Actually the March 2011 Wards Letters to the Editor had a piece where a reader commented on NOx problems and homologation problems with the 2L TDI!!

The USA version of the 535d has 255 hp which is basically the same as the European 535d. The European 535d has 313 hp.

US 35d really a 30d elsewhere proper 35d and 40d is even better, my grandad used to have a 435d and it was astonishing for a diesel.

I have one of these LGXs in a Cadillac XT5. As with any GM High Feature Engine, Everyday when you Start it, your Thoughts are is today the Day it Blows up. My STS had the LLT engine, and ended up with Stretched Timing Chains at 8 yrs of Age. Car was written off at 200,000. I usually went another 1000 past when the OLM hit 0%, and the Engine didn't burn or Leak Oil.

I found a 2014 535d with 67,000. Thinking strongly about it but have some fears of buying used that is 10yrs old. I don’t want it for a daily driver, but to have when I want something special to drive. I found it on Carvana. Who knows?

Why can't the sound not be like a 6 cylinder combustion engine? This would be much clearer where the sound comes from = a car.

It's wild to me how GM keeps merging old and new technology. Pushrod engine with a single cam phaser and high pressure fuel pump on it. It's like an Amish horse buggy with led lamps. Lol

Some noise in the passenger cabin? You mean a constant droning on and on .... Can Ford honestly tell me they can keep wind noise out of the cabin at 70 miles an hour but the Pedestrian System sound is relentless inside the cabin? the speaker couldn't have been placed up front near the horn pointing out the grill? Doubly bad that the bottom of the vehicle is clad in skirting so the noise has no place to go but bounce around in the engine compartment. HOW DO I TURN IT OFF !!! Had I realized what an annoying "noise feature" the pedestrian system was going to turn out to be, I would not have bought the vehicle. Why does it have to make the noise when the car is stopped at a light and not moving? The vehicles with stop/start technology don't make noise at the light. Let's talk about the video ... Who pulls out of a blind drive up to a sidewalk and does not stop to look for bikers, walkers and runners? The car was moving way too fast. An ICE vehicle would not have made a difference ... At that speed the person had not chance to get out of the way either.

Gm should of also included port injectors for wide open throttle operation / high load to help clean the valves…. Instead you gotta disassemble and walnut blast intake valves to remove carbon build up…. I would not pay for any vehicle with that engine design flaw… just another way GM saving on production cost knowing you will need to pay thousands in service /walnut blast after 100-140k miles….

Yeah, good when it's new maybe, put anything up to about 200,000 km (about 125,000 miles) and this bloody thing will either choke on it's own poo or grind itself to death courtesy of the truly infamous levels of timing chain stretch rattle and bang. Not a good engine in the real world because it can't (won't?) even run to factory mandated oil change intervals which were 15,000 km over here (a bit over 9,000 miles) and instead it needs to be babied and fussed over like a lame dog to even survive normal driving. Why the hell should we have to change oil every 5,000 km (3000 miles) and flush the stupid thing too just so it wont fucking shit itself. Yes it sounds good for a V6 (unless you put a farty exhaust on it, in which case it sounds fucked) and the torque is pretty good (I guess?) but this is not a good engine. Unless you maintain it with truly obsessive levels of care and attention it won't live

I had a 2008 STS with the LLT, and at about 120,000km the Timing Chains had to be replaced. GM recalibrating of the OLM, resulting in a 2% drop in Oil Life, just by driving it 5 blocks when the Temps got near Freezing, so the Car was Parked from Oct till late April. My old 95 Buick, had longer Oil Life, and it wasn't even Speced for Synthetic Oil, than this STS

Well, there is something wrong in this video… Should not the car let any pedestrian go first? Even more if there is a blind one? 🤨
@rylans.5365
@rylans.5365 Жыл бұрын
The video showed an emergency situation where the driver was not attentive and did not see the pedestrian. The pedestrian alerting sound made the pedestrian aware of the car’s presence so that he would not continue walking.
