Funny thing was I took of from EGQS and was flying around Scotland then noticed there was a ruddy carrier just off the coast so I thought why not. The map you have to use the Rift (or quest) controller. Point it at the view map button then use it to zoom in or out. Was totally not expecting the carrier to start talking to me, not that I listened. 🤣

I done it in other Sims but was a first in Xplane 11. I'm totally winging it. Apparently you can swap out completely the default carrier for some British carriers (the latest plus also probably the Ark Royal. Which would be handy for that old Harrier you've got

I was coming in way to slow + nearly lost her. I came in faster in that last one which which seemed to go ok.

@@pickle4474 Try doing about 400 knots down the runway and adjust the size of the turn to slow it right down. Yes you did ok and you are getting it. The Idea is to stay at 200 on finals.

@@pickle4474 No I shut down before the turn. but get ready to creep it back up if you are getting too slow as it takes a while to spool backup.

Thank you Graham. Well I should of aborted that landing. I was far to fast even for a working chute plus I think Xplane 11 does make the runway more slippy in those conditions. Think they are still towing the F4 off the golf course now.

The weather was just getting worse the closer I got to EGQS. In all honesty I should of diverted. It was fun though.

Too right about keeping weather real time also. I did a flight yesterday from Shoreham to Elstree in the Spit in shocking visibility with low cloud and conditions worsening. I was skirting trees to stay below the clouds and made it with one go around. The fact that we can do stuff like this in a fully 3d environment amazes me. We are in a glorious age of flight simulation.

@@pickle4474 I totally agree, I tried to get in to halfpenny green once but the cloud had other ideas. I finished up blind IFR at 3000ft calling Manchester radar for vectors to Liverpool. They saved my life.

Yes it does get irritating. You can map a key to switch it off and on which I use. I don't get on well with the Oculus touch controllers.

DCS, yes I know what you mean. I want to like it as it's free (even though add-on planes are horrendously expensive) but I struggle with it. Its so un optimised as well. I can't get the performance I get in VR with Xplane in it.

Hello again! I haven't seen this video of yours yet. I was contemplating as whether to do something similar last week with the CLS 747, but I am waiting for the just flight 747 to be released. I have been working a lot so have not had a lot of time for the 747-400 home cockpit. I have moved it out into another room. This room is big enough to put a wrap-around screen in place and I am going to possibly re-design the frame. Great video!

@@TheGreatPretend Thank you, I wanted to try out Radar Contact with the 747 and enjoyed the flight. Be very interested to see how the JF 747 will turn out. Wrap around is a good call- you going to use projectors?

@@pickle4474 Yes, I too am interested to see how the JF 747 is going to turn out. They must release it soon, it's been in development since January. I am going to use projectors for the simulator and am currently looking into the best ones to use. I've also been dragged into making an a10 warthog simulator as well, but I will sell it once I have made it. I have already flown the 747 simulator and have uploaded a video recently.

@@pickle4474 The person who I am making the a10 cockpit with really insisted on making that specific aircraft. I wanted to do an f-18 but he wouldn't listen. However, I will have a look at the f-16. I think I told you before that I am qualified in design and technology, so that shouldn't be a problem. If it's something you are really interested in, I will get back to you once I have done some more research.

Oh i'm sure you are right David and I have yet to try the pushback one but you have to appreciate that this is a home simulator and of course will never be like the real thing and 2 this addon is only 20 pound compared to say 100 for some of those like PMDG for instance. Now I know we want as much realism as you can throw at us but at what price and enjoyment. Personally I want to learn the procedures and fly on Vatsim and without an addon reqiuring that I study for a million years (i'm very happy to have a virtual engineer as I have enough to deal with) Plus i'm the only pilot when 3 people would be flying these back in the day. So even if you had the most realistic addon 747 200 it would still be unrealistic to fly it on your own. I enjoy this addon and as close as Im going to get to flying the real thing but its horses for courses.

Just Flight are bringing out a brand new 747 classic model. There are the 747-100 and the 747-200, and talk of a future DLC including the 747sp and airforce one. Although this 747 on the video is sold from Just Flight, it was not actually made by them. The new 747 classic is made by the just flight team who have done an incredible job on the aesthetics. I am waiting for the aircraft currently as I have been flying the CLS 747 since 2015. I do love it, but I do not have enough knowledge to agree with you, as I have never flown a 747 classic or the ready for pushback 747. Hopefully the new 747 classic, will give be a better insight. @@TheGreatPretend Yes very excited to see how that one comes along. The CLS is a good basic starting point especially if your new to airline simulation. I have flown it twice on Vatsim (to Holland) with killing any virtual pixels and basic enough so one person can fly them and it looks good.

I have been flying the CLS 747 ever since 2015. I never really fly anything else. So I am looking forward to the brand new version. Thanks :-)

@@TheGreatPretend Yes. JF products are getting more expensive as the aircrafts bece more advanced. I thought about getting thier amazing Canberra and also the Vulcan but I would be shelling out £80 quid and money does not fall off trees. Will stick with the CLS 747 for now.
