Do you have a parts list for the new hoses?

Do you think a Husqvarna 350 would be similar in parts? My chainsaw leaks bar oil and I'm thinking I'd like to dig into it and replace some parts. Thanks...

Correct. I snapped it off my OLD 021 this past weekend. It was cracked, and when I had it laying on its side to fill it with fuel, it was running out like crazy. So I opened up the cover, touched the vent line and it fell off. BTW, the Stihl brand tube is $11 from my dealer here in Alaska. I rarely run this saw, I usually run my 361 and 461, but occasionally I run the little guy for fun.

Excellent video, and I encountered the same situation with my 359. I work on many saws, and a lot of guys bring me real grunged up ones, but I never thought about using a pressure washer to clean out the crud. I would have thought that high pressured water might not be good for the crank bearings, but I based on your vid, I guess it is ok.

I use the lower pressure nozzle and don't spray directly on the crank seals, has done fine for me. It's a messy hobby!

Chasing crazy running issues on the next newer generation Jonny…when I have a bad leak (or bad plug job) that the mityvac can’t produce enough air fast enough to find, I fire up the air compressor for just a couple minutes to 10 psi and use that for enough flow to chase down the issue.

A good message here would be to check the port chamfer on whatever replacement parts you put on your saw. To include piston edges. I sand all edges with 600 grit at a minimum. Looks like a neat project and hope you get it in the wood!

If the cylinder and carb pressure tests are good, I would not keep replacing the crank seals. I would check the coil and ignition system. Sometimes the older saws coil act up and don't give consistent "output" for lack of a better word or the wires rub funny and the power changes. Just a thought.
@Revellersaws
@Revellersaws Жыл бұрын
Good thought---in the background I think I have found a leak between the carb and intake, chasing that tonight with a 3D printed gasket, more video to follow. If it doesn't cure it, thinking I have a 670 coil stashed, be the next thing

Try using motoseal on the o-rings. I just did two of these today and they both got good ole motoseal all around the o-rings. They also got new crank seals, but that's not exactly the point.

@Revellersaws I'm pretty well stumped then. I'd probably break it down and....no wait, you already did pressure tests. Well...I don't know. Maybe set it on the stove while doing the pressure test. Let it heat up and look for the leak.

@@Revellersaws I get what you mean. I have a echo 670 that seems to run and rev just fine but it doesn’t rev down normal it sounds choppy. I thought it was a air leak somewhere so I sprayed around the carb and intake boot and could get it to die. Weird thing is the boot is soft with no cracks and the gaskets looked good too. It will be interesting to know what happens when I put it back together
@BillsGarageWorks
@BillsGarageWorks Жыл бұрын
Have you sprayed brake clean while it’s running around the crank seals, the carb boot base gasket everything?
@Revellersaws
@Revellersaws Жыл бұрын
I have---the flywheel side is easy to get to, but the oiler side has covers on this saw. The only time I got an RPM drop was from the carb block, but I have 2 issues with that reading: 1, I have replaced all those gaskets multiple times since and cannot repeat it. 2, I am always very suspicious of the saw just sucking some of the brake cleaner in when spraying that close to the intake.
