One cubic yard equals 27 cubic feet or 3 feet long 3 feet wide 3 feet tall is a cubic yard for any materials another example would be for liquid there’s 201.97 gallons per cubic yard. There’s definitely mathematics involved so scientifically speaking there is a formula.. Obviously different materials weights are different but one cubic yard is still a cubic yard regardless of the weight of the material

Ya I just went up there and I’ve been going there for a couple weeks now daily to get 2 yards of mulch in my truck and one of the guys gave me two level bucket loads using that exact tractor and argued it was 2 yards. I talk to the supervisor because the boss man had left and first he seemed reluctant to want to fix it but then I bust all the measurement tape and let them know that I used to work for Fenske who was my neighbor for 15 years. The supervisor promptly agreed to fix it but the guy operating the bucket still only gave me one more level bucket load of mulch, so I’m still half a yard short now that this video here shows exactly what the boss man shows as the definition of what full yard is I’m going to have a conversation about the attitude of that worker because he did not seem pleasant and still refused to give me that the fourth scoop or at least one more solid scoop. The other operators that work there all of them except for one guy you spoke English well seem to understand what a full yard is and just loaded me accordingly. The Spanish speaking operators even though they only do one scoop per yard they are better operators and can scoop a whole yard in one scoop so I think it mixed up the one guy who doesn’t understand.

That "supervisor" has a lot of nerve. I hope you eventually got to speak to the boss.

One cubic yard is a volume measurement. Not a weight measurement. So there IS NO GUESSING. A full bucket is a full bucket on the machine. It is NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. Thank you.

So is your trailer a 10 cubic yard or 20 cubic yard trailer? Furthermore how much does it weight and what will be the standard price for delivery?
@rockndirtyard9472 жыл бұрын
We use a 10 yard dump truck and the delivery price is based upon the zip code. Give us a call at 512.361.0144 and we can talk further.

The real question is, how big is a yard when it's in a pile. What's the height and the diameter of the conical pile. The measurement will be different for stone, crushed rock, sand, mulch, and dirt, but that's the real question. Very hard to find an answer on the internet. I wonder if anyone here is up to that challenge.

I used a shovel to load my truck and by the looks of it it was over a yard in my f250. I did spend 30 hard minutes to load hard clay into truck.

How many shovel makes a yard of stone or sand?
@cutweldngrind3 жыл бұрын
@@kevinhenry8971 I filled 5 and 6 gallon buckets and dumped them in truck bed. The 5 gallons are about .67cf and the 6 gallon are .8cf. A yard is 27cf so roughly 40 buckets per yard, each trip I tried to do 50 buckets or more. I did over 5 yards already enough for my test pond. I will get 150 yards of clay hauled in when I build the big pond.

That bucket is more 0.3 cubic yard you need 3 rounded scoops to make it 1 cubic yard... a big loader bucket is 3.5 yards to give you an idea
@rockndirtyard9473 жыл бұрын
That is incorrect. Standard bobcat buckets come in 1/2 and 1 cubic yard capacities. We have both.

0:27 do you think that yard would fit on a sheet of 5/8 plywood? and if that plywood had the perimeter reinforced with 2x4s and screws what would it weigh and could a 4 cylinder car with 1500lb tow capacity drag it over grass a distance of 60'?
@rockndirtyard9474 жыл бұрын
One cubic yard weighs roughly 2000 pounds, so most likely not, considering the added weight of your plywood.

A cubic yard is a volume equal to roughly 202 gallons. It is 27 cubic feet. (3'x3'x3'). It does not vary. Compaction or voids between stones etc may affect the apparent volume you receive.

I'm so happy I came across this video. My dad does landscaping and one of his customers is throwing a fit because of the price. She said she wanted 7 cubic yards of mulch which my dad did but she is trying to argue that a yard is different than a cubic yard and therefore she should pay less

Right , but it can cover more than 3 square ft. If it's spread shallower than 3 ft deep ... & that's where the questions come in .... If you lay stone 4" deep , how much coverage is achieved? Questions like that . Cause adults don't long division at all .
@mtnmotoadv5 жыл бұрын
@@stevenm3494 You divide 27 by how deep you want it. Say 4" is 1/3rd of a foot, you'd do 27sq.ft / .3 which equals about 90 square feet of coverage. 3" would be /.25, 2" would be /.20 etc

@@stevenm3494 at 4" deep, you would get 81 square feet of coverage.
