Don't use a hopper for each sugar cane, just use 1 hopper mine cart pls.
@Wortigon200017 күн бұрын
yet here I am, on java, with a centralized redstone clock that times harvests, for a 2 block deep farm structure, that's completely tileable in every direction. Also with an instant harvest button, and a detection system for the 1 sugarcane closest to the clock, for a fun little extra trigger for the instant harvest. difference is, my design is uses a hopper minecart to save on resources and lag, rather than individual hoppers for every plant, (and doesn't have a 45°angle version, so can only be built in straight lines). But those minecarts can be replaced. Simply, with the hopper minecart variant, you can choose wether to grow your sugarcane on sand, dirt, or mud as you see fit. With normal hoppers, you wouldn't even need a minecart launching/emptying system like I have, so it could make the structure of the farm even simpler. first/front column from bottom up: rail (some needs to be powered, so account for that, you can include redstone blocks next to powered rails in the rear column on this same level, otherwise the stuff you put there will just have to be blocks that block water flowing through them) dirt/sand/mud, whichever you pick, sugarcane grows equally on all of them sugarcane plant rear column (from bottom up as well, starting at the same height): solid block, or something that prevents water from flowing through there (slabs/stairs are enough as well, if you don't waterlog them by accident; use redstone blocks where you'll have to power powered rails) watersource lightsource that is a full block (glowstone, sea lantern, froglight, shroomlight, jack'o lantern, whatever you prefer) (appearantly it helps plants grow, not sure wether it affects sugarcane as well or not, I went for it, it works, if it has no effect, than any full building block works here) piston to break the sugarcane observer checking to the side, towards where the clock is (or the observer of the previous module). (on the last module of the farm in each row, replace this with a note block) I also built a kind of fancy yet very compact slimeless cirquit for the manual and automated triggers both, the only somewhat problematic part was making a T-flipflop without a sticky piston, but a copper bulb was a perfectly fine, and even more compact replacement If you build multiple layers of this, note, if you connect the rails at the opposing end for 2-2 lines, making it n*4 deep with 2 plants in each slice, you'll have a 4 block wide part to biuld the hopper minecart starting cirquit, so you can have more freedom to do that as well, I did that too, mine is 8 block deep, with a tileable 4 block deep hopper minecart starter that handle 2-2 rows of plants each, as using only 1 hopper minecart wasn't really al option for me, because with all 4 rows fully grown, it'd produce more than the hopper minecart can fit, and I prefer lossless designs. Also, do cover the front layer of the farm with something, be it glass, or a wall, whatever you fancy, just make sure they have a full solid block surface towards the sugarcane plants, so they'll all land on the block they grow on, where the hopper minecart (or regular hopper if you opt to use those) can pick them up.

@Wortigon20003 күн бұрын
@@ShiShawPocketSand are you perhaps playing on bedrock? I only tested it in java. Also, it relies on quasy connectivity, so if you're playing on that 1 version where it was removed, before the community leashed out to get it back, that can be an issue too. It's literally the quasy connectivity that enables this to function, as the observers activate the pistons using that. In a cascading fashion.

You can also use a note-block to trigger the piston below the observer, which also doesn't require a redstone-line.

Which design did you use?
@LuckySecond2 ай бұрын
Dope, natural builds and terraforming is one of the most difficult things to pull off successfully. Wait until you realize you can use stairs and slabs to break up the cave even more. 😂 Also the main two mods that really undermine the “greatness” of KZbinrs is litematica and world edit. Those two are used by all the big names and killed every ounce of respect or awe for their work once I realized what those programs did. Replay mod is fine. I guess the question to ask is “will this make for a better video” or “will this basically play Minecraft for me”. One of those I’m is fine, the other is just lame.
@AquaRybo2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! I completely agree with the points you made about mods. I think the game is a lot more fun when you build something legitimately through hard work and grinding and can actually feel proud of what you build
@LuckySecond2 ай бұрын
@@AquaRybo now I’m all for trying to make the process of creating content as efficient as possible but litematica is just a step too far. Everyone could be incredible if they had schematics of builds they’ve spent months on and could auto place blocks. I’m not saying Minecraft should be a Souls game but it’s hard to appreciate something that is a copy paste auto build. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk. 😂

@AquaRybo2 ай бұрын
Using mud shouldn’t slow down the farm compared to sand. If you’re wondering why your farm isn’t as fast as displayed in the video, it’s because I increased the random tick speed for my demonstrations. The designs I showed are faster than normal designs but only by about 30%

I dont think ur design is more or less efficient. But the lack of rates for comparison tells a lot.
@AquaRybo2 ай бұрын
It is more efficient, you can test it yourself. It’s my bad for not adding the comparison rates, this is my first tutorial and I only realized afterwards that I probably should have added some things to show the difference, instead of just stating that it’s there. Although, I do think the explanation as to why it works at the end acts as a little bit of proof of this method

I tried this setup in my manual sugarcane farm, and now that sugarcane won’t grow either. Is something wrong with my minecraft?
@AquaRybo2 ай бұрын
Interesting 🤔 Do you have your random tick speed set to 0? That’s the only thing I could think of that would stop it from growing. Normal random tick speed for Java should be 3
@justinstroud82732 ай бұрын
I will have to learn how to check that. The crazy thing is all my other sugercane grows just fine, but when I tried adding the observer setup next to sugarcane that was established, it then also stopped growing. There has to be something I have set wrong.

For tip 3 your also getting half the crop you want per 9 by 9 farming area
@AquaRybo2 ай бұрын
That’s true, your doubling the speed but halving the amount, so now it’s just as efficient as it was before. But now you have room to place another crop, so you can get the equivalent of two different 9 by 9 farms but only take up the space of one. If you only care about one crop, then maybe using that tip doesn’t really matter, although technically since a 9 by 9 farm is an odd number, you can make 5 of the rows have crops and the other 4 without crops, so you would be getting the equivalent of about 10 rows of crops instead of just 9, so it could still help you out a little bit, it just depends on your situation
