Such as the green sand used to cast the gaurd could have only come from a pit 5 miles from James black shop . He scientifically proved it dated to around the 1830's

You need to find the article done by muzzle loader magazine. It was very comprehensive. It went through all the laboratory evidence. " example " the blade was compromised of iron , wrought iron steel and high carbon steel hammer together and folded many times . The steel was poured from a foundry heated with oak charcoal. The green sand used for the mold to cast the gaurd came from 5 miles from James Black shop. And on and on . If your interested in Bowie knives find that article. It is truly fascinating . It seems Mr Musso got raked over the coals . All he did was send the knife to many labs to see if it was authentic "as in made in the early 1800's ". Then an article on those test were published. He never made any claims that it was the Bowie knife. There is a painting of Sam Houston looking over a map with your knife in his hands . James Bowie pacing off to the side . That painting is authentic. Singed and dated . President Jefferson Davis " president of the confederacy was also pictured with a similar knife. . If you like history research your awesome knife. It is fascinating
