What are your post treated with?
@petebeasttexashomesteading2 сағат бұрын
On the bottom of the post's I used Henry #201 (Home Depot) roof coating mixed with a little diesel fuel to thin it out just enough to brush it on.

Not sure if you care but I learned this myself. Your support crossbeam should go to the opposite corners of your gate. It would help with the drag and help keep it level I promise.

great video. it answered most of my questions except I have seen people put a 90 degree elbow pointing down in that 1/8 weep hole. do you find that not necessary?
@petebeasttexashomesteadingКүн бұрын
Not necessary, you just have to make sure to keep the dirt out of it. That's why I put weed fabric cloth around the hole and fill it with rocks.

Never ever lay the water heater on it's side in the truck. Has to be right side up only as the anode can easily chip the glass lining of the tank with it bouncing around on the road.

you didnt really need to get them all the way from malta. the type they have in the med is ficus indica brought by the spanish from mexico to spain and then it spread all over and naturalized from morocco all the way to india. ficus indica is the standard Opuntia in cultivation so you can find it anywhere. as its the opuntia the meso Americans hybridized and domesticated. they combinined a bunch of different prickly pears to get the ficus indica.

The one drawback I see is the products are toxic (hence critters don't like it). Like lots of things from the old days.

i get 50amp generator...30amp is only good for lights and fridge but not climate control during big storm in the texas summer when outside is hot for days without power. yes central air is very important but its not gonna run full power during generator running.. i so i might force to set temp to 75 degrees vs 71 degrees for normal power from utilities. It should be enough to run least 20 amp ac plus 15amp fridge and 15 amp for lights and back room window unit ...it be great to find 60amp generators ...that be great to have

Doesn't seem very effective vs a brush mowing attachment for a tractor.. obviously a tractor is way more expensive but this will take you all year at this rate.

After we bought our house on 6 acres three years ago and sunk so much money into it clearing, cleaning it, maintaining all that work, and then planting garden after garden, after tree, after tree, only to find that each year they either dried up, or were water logged, I finally gave up. I simply cannot afford to keep messing with this BS to have it die from either too much water, or not enough. Im not sure where you are are at in East Texas, but I live between Henderson and Kilgore, and just like you, we got hammered with back to back wind storms, and several of my fruit trees just broke off, and all was lost. I know they say not to prune in the growing season, but I went out and pruned off the obviously broken limbs, and cut back several of the longer ones that were sagging. Thus far the ONLY THING I have done that has been successful was recently finished a big upgrade chicken coop from 4x8 to 10x16 for my 36 hens and 3 roosters. Other then just losing a hen here and there from random unknown causes, thus far the flock is happy and giving us LOTS OF EGGS. UGH!! Hope I don’t jinx that.

If you raise chickens WITHOUT heat lamps, they will learn adapt to the cold. Whether the temp is +11 or -30, just make sure the coop is draft free. Raise them WITH heat lamps and they will become acclimated and dependant on them. Now say your power goes out in a weather event like a blizzard or cold snap, in this situation they will surely perish.

I live in Chicago & have an average sized yard. Using raised beds, grow bags, containers & some ground I have zucchini, tomatoes, peppers, asparagus, sunchokes, purple & orange sweet potatoes, cucumbers, garlic, green onions, lettuces, green & asparagus beans along with a whole array of herbs growing . I am a retired nurse & am trying to get the message out for younger people to garden. Where there is a will there is a way ! I almost forgot about the broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, strawberries, blueberries, dwarf apple (3) & dwarf pear(2) trees !

When I purchased my 5555 with 450 hours it had all kinds of problems. It was leaking anti-freeze out of a hose because of a chintzy hose clamp so I replaced it. The brake springs had fallen off so the brakes were dragging. The clutch drags so that when trying to use the shuttle shift it grinds when trying to select forward. I have to put it in reverse first to keep it from grinding. The engine oil showed being overfilled on the dipstick tube so I drained the oil out. It had around 2 gallons of oil in it so I assume the dipstick tube must be set too far down in the engine. It's leaking transmission oil from somewhere under the seat and leaves puddles wherever it goes. When I rev it up much more than an idle the engine acts like it's starvigng for fuel. Other than that it's a good tractor.

Great video! Thank you. A couple of questions for you. When do you change the cords? Do you wait until they break? Or how short can they get before you change them? Also, did you get their extended warranty? Thank you.
@petebeasttexashomesteading3 күн бұрын
I change the lines when they either break or get too short, you'll know when it's time. No I didn't get an extended warranty.

Hi Pete, Question doesn't your cast iron parts have the Niploy is a food-grade cast iron coating that is built right through the steel, neck, auger and components and is chip and corrosion resistant.? As that is what mine has. The instructions says just to rube the auger with olive oil prior to storing, but I may do the inside of the hopper also.
@petebeasttexashomesteading5 күн бұрын
Not sure if the cast iron parts has some type of coating, but yes all parts must be coated with olive oil for storage.
