Incredible to think they hadn't played live for 5 months before playing this show such a tight performance.

Glad I found this and it's interesting they tried out Blown Away from their least successful album during the Hugh years, but I do like The Gospel According to the Meninblack.

Magnifique. Thanks for sharing. This Euroman owes you one :D
I concur. An amazing half-hour showcasing everything brilliant about them as a group...including the fact that Hugh was - to my mind at least - irreplaceable.

Bloody hell.. I've waited for a set like this since then too, I only heard about this, I saw them on the MIB tour, tour this is the closest I've heard to that experience

No guitar solo from Hugh in Hanging Around? Maybe they had a re-arranged shorter version for the programme.
@officialblueboy15096 ай бұрын
Absolutely faultless. Such a talented band and the sound is incredible; backing vocals, guitars, keyboards and drums. I also think that creatively this is their best period by far. I think they started losing it around La Folie.

They just seem to be at the peak of their powers here. What really strikes me is how this is only three years after their breakthrough, but they are pointedly avoiding the early, big and obvious hits. No Peaches, No More Heroes, Something Better Change, 5 Minutes, Nice N Sleazy. Such confidence in the newer material including unreleased songs like Thrown Away, which always seems better live than the studio version.
@zypalitra808010 ай бұрын
Studio version's alright but if they'd put this version on the album I'd care for the song much, much more than I do. The studio version's like a joke song.

Thank you for this performance of the Stranglers. My favorite era of the band. JJ is the only one left , unfortunately . What a sound! Crank it up loud! JJ and his thundering bass. Hugh on guitar. Both on vocals. Jet Black keeping the beat on drums. And Dave on keyboards. What a wizard.Amazing. Put it all together, an amazing wall of sound!
