@sunviche think the lyrics went something like that when I listened to it! I’m not quite sure what some of the things mean like “some pony” and “tumbler” but it was a very pretty song and was happy to have had the request :-)

This actually is because Nopon personalities rely heavily on their breaking of language conventions, so their dubs have to adapt to meet that expectation. The intonation is a big part of that, so the dubs take some creative differences to make it land right. The directors were involved with the English dub very closely too!

I have worked 5 years as a freelancer translator with 16 years of Japanese studies on my back, there's PLENTY about the Nopon speech that is just wrong in the localized version. For starters, Nopons end their sentences with -mo, as a verbal tick in the Japanese version, but that verbal tick is not present in XC1, and substituted by "meh" in XC2. There is nothing preventing XC1 from having the Nopon say -mo, and there's absolutely no reason to change it to "meh" in 2! Second, the Nopon tend to use childish language, calling their family members with -chan (okaa-chan, otou-chan), no matter how old they are. The English releases decided to invent the idea that they call their family members -pon (dadapon, mampon, granpypon, etc.). This doesn't make sense either, that's not a childish way of calling their family members, it's a mockery of their speech pattern. A more accurate way would be "papa" and "mama" or "daddy" and "mommy". The Nopon use normal terms o refer to the second person (kimi, omae, anata), but the localized version decides they shall refer to the party members as "friends" ("Upa needs friends to go defeat Orluga."). This doesn't make sense, as Nopon tend to put emphasis on "tomo" and "tomodachi" in Japanese, meaning "companion" and "friend." Nopon just don't call anyone "friend" like that in Japanese. in the case of Tora, he calls Rex "aniki." In the English dub, he calls him "Rex-Rex". In the scene Tora explains he refers to Rex as aniki because he admires Drivers and sees Rex as a role figure, the English localization changes the whole sentence to explain that using your name twice is the Nopon way of showing respect - and no other Nopon ever does that in the game! They could have simply made EN Tora call Rex "Brother" and maintain the exact same sentence in Japanese for the explanation of his reasoning! The dubs don't take creative liberties to maintain coherence with the Japanese script, the dubs take liberties because, just like any part of the localization industry worldwide, there's nothing stopping them from butchering the product they work on!

​@@kerozine819 Pokemon names would totally make sense without localization. I was born and raised in Brazil, and guess what? We didn't localize the Pokemon names from EN to PTBR, yet they all made sense to us despite English being barely spoken here, much less by kids. If we had been introduced to those characters in their Japanese names, we wouldn't be complaining that their names weren't localized, we would have accepted that their names are what the show calls them! After all, nobody complains that Pikachu, Eevee, Chikorita or Togepi's names weren't changed! No one complains that Pikachu isn't localized to Elecrat or Sparquick! Had we been introduced to Satoshi instead of Ash Ketchum, we would be calling him Satoshi no problem! And if you want proof of that, just look at all the names that haven't been localized in anime and games, we just accept them without question: Goku, Naruto, Ichigo, Deku, Yagami Light, Suzumiya Haruhi, etc. Localizers state that those changes need to happen in order to reach the audience in the country it's being localized for, but then things that don't get changed in other anime and games, or even within the works they're dealing with, prove the contrary! Those changes are deemed necessary by the powers that be, but they never are!
