Thanks for sharing the video. I have a question: how we can add a custom scale in dropdown list in Revit? or how we can add this scale for line thickness? I added a new scale, but it doesn't appear in the line thickness setting box.
@JeffreyFullercad
@JeffreyFullercad 29 күн бұрын
I'm currently using Revit 2025 and I can add a scale through the custom link at the top of the scale selection drop down and it shows up in the drop down. If it does not stay in the drop down the next time you start a new project, then there is no way to make it stay. That's just how Revit works. Just like custom wall systems, you have to make them every time.

Thanks for your answer. But problem is that, I cannot even add it in the new project file and it disappear in line thickness box. Could you please add some scales like 1:10000, 1:25000, 1:50000 and 1:250000 in a file and add it in line thickness box in revit 2024 and send it for me.

in your video when you selected first and second wall for roof lines they were automatically joining each other, is there any specific setting?
@JeffreyFullercad
@JeffreyFullercad 29 күн бұрын
No specific setting that I am aware of. You can try looking under options menu under the "file" tab.

Thank you for such detailed and short video, i am facing a problem when adding roof lines with overhang, these lines are not joining the corners by default, all outer corners have gapes of overhang size, i mean roof lines are same as wall length ( i hope you understand) due to this reason i am experiencing an error " lines cannot intersect each other" how i can resolve this issue.

I have an issue where the roof joins did not match how I wanted them to look I model each section and I have a good roof the only problem is one of the created slope isn’t fitting perfectly any help?
@JeffreyFullercad
@JeffreyFullercad 2 ай бұрын
@@thelion8362 revit can be very querky, especialy with the roof tool. I have not experienced exactly what you have described, but i can say that you have to keep working with it. Sometimes, certain roof geometry is just not possible. If it is possible in the real world, you just have to leave a lot of notes with the drawings and create multiple drawings from different perspective, in 2D of course.

Hi Jeffrey. This video was excellent! I would like to re-learn drafting from the ground up. But you have so much awesome content, I am bewildered where to start. I have learned many bad habits, and forgotten much of what I learned in High School. So I'd like to start again, and step by step work up to Vectorworks (which I dabble in now, learned during COVID and promptly forgotten). But I am missing the paper fundamentals. Could you suggest an order that I should watch your videos, starting from the ground up? Assume I was a student, and you wanted to start from scratch. What would be the first 10 or so videos to watch? Much thanks.

Hi Jeff, you mention different "series" but with almost 600 videos now,and all different software versions, it can be a bit overwhelming or difficult to find or follow. I would love to see you set up some playlists to help organize your channel into different video series. I'd love to walk through the basic setup stuff, and then through the whole new-home series for instance, but have no interest in Revit or hand drafting. Even though I have 20 years in construction, I love the foundational explainations you provide. I had computer programming in highschool but I sure wish there was a drafting/CAD class available back then!

Okay, if you really have to be that way. I teach CAD drafting, hand drawn drafting is not even part of my, or anyone else's curriculum any more. I was taught CAD drafting when I was in school, not hand drafting. I do this especially for my students, just to have a little fun. So get off my channel please.

WOW! I HAD TO STOP AFTER YOU DREW THE 4' VERTICAL LINES - TAUGHT DRAFTING FOR 45 YEARS AND YOU INCORRECTLY DREW THOSE VERTICAL LINES ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE TRIANGLE - YOU NEVER DRAW ON THE UNDERSIDE OF A STRAIGHTEDGE OR TRIANGLE - THE CORRECT WAY TO DRAW VERTICAL LINES IS TO FLIP THAT TRIANGLE OVER AND DRAW ON THE UPPER EDGE OF THE TRIANGLE - YOU NEVER DRAW ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THAT STRAIGHTEDGE TO DRAW HORIZONTAL LINES, SO WHY TEACH THEM INCORRECTLY BY DRAWING ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRIANGLE FOR VERTICAL LINES - LOOK IN ANY FIRST YEAR DRAFTING TEXT AND IT SHOW THE CORRECT POSITION OF THE TRIANGLE ALSO, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, WHEN YOU DARKEN YOU OBJECT LINES YOU ALWAYS DRAW FROM LEFT TO RIGHT AND TOP TO BOTTOM TO NOT "SMEAR" THE DARKER "H" LEAD - YOUR TECHNIQUE ALL THE LINES WOULD BE SMEARED OVER WHEN YOU DRAW FROM LEFT TO RIGHT - DRAW A LINE AND THEN MOVE THE TRIANGLE TO THE RIGHT SMEARING OVER THE LINE YOU JUST LAYED DOWN - POOR PRACTICE TO TEACH FIRST YEAR DRAFTING STUDENT'S - YOU SHOULD POST A RETRACTION AND MAKE IT RIGHT - WE LEAD BY EXAMPLE AND YOU LEAD THEM DOWN THE WRONG PATH - FIX IT!
