@thehomebookkeeper2 ай бұрын
A client can categorize their chart of accounts however they wish. It just personalizes their reports so what I would do is make a second meal category. One for meal deductions and name one meal - research. You can also make sub accounts under meals such as travel, research, client etc

Your title of this tutorial (which is very well done) is "How to Create Quotes, Bids, and Estimates ..." but you do not explain how to change "Estimate" to "Quote" ... I have done it before, but it feels like every time Quickbooks makes changes, they hide it in a different place. I think it should be intuitive, but it is NOT intuitive to me.

Since QBO switched from the old Melio system for scheduling online payments to their new platform, we have encountered significant difficulties in paying vendors and managing bill payments with the same level of flexibility. Previously, we could manage multiple bills with different due dates for the same vendor easily. The system allowed automatic payments based on due dates, or we could select the withdrawal date to better manage our cash flow. Now, we must manually change each due date individually. This involves clicking on each bill, opening another window, and making the change. This process is cumbersome and far from user-friendly. Moreover, the "Faster Payment" option, for which we pay an extra fee, is not faster at all. It takes three business days or more, with no option for same-day or next-day deposits. Under the Melio system, we could choose next-day payments or same-day delivery if scheduled before 12 pm. Additionally, we are now charged an extra subscription fee for this subpar bill pay service from QBO.

For Airbnb property managers you record the airbnb payout as income and then the owner payout as an expense

Thanks for the video! I saw it in the video, but I did not hear an explanation. How would you track the custom occupancy taxes? Would that be classified as income, a liability, something else?
@thehomebookkeeper5 ай бұрын
For Airbnb you can record only what’s included in the amount of the payout. You want to record money in and money out. Not the fees Airbnb manages. Know I know other platforms like vrbo are different.
@michaelaconn17734 ай бұрын
@@thehomebookkeeper Airbnb does not cover taxes in all areas. It is possible to configure a tax percentage that Airbnb collects on your behalf and is included in the payout. It is also possible for Airbnb to collect a portion of the taxes required by your jurisdiction, but not all of them. In both cases, it would be on the owner to track the taxes collected by Airbnb and taxes in the payout to ensure the proper taxes are being paid. How would these scenarios be accounted for?

That's not an asset that's an account. A fixed asset account. So what you're saying is that Quickbooks still doesn't track actual assets or calculate depreciation, etc. Got it.
@thehomebookkeeper5 ай бұрын
Are you talking about a loan for a vehicle? As payments are made the liability account decreases. If not and you are talking about actual depreciation then there is no way for QBO to consistently assess value of objects as it’s just a software. You will have to calculate and record in qbo the depreciation at the end of the year.
@mayloomis96385 ай бұрын
@thehomebookkeeper No, a depreciable asset. Actually after I commented I found it in quickbooks under Accountant Advanced. Asset manager. That will track assets and depreciation for you. You just might want to update the title of the video to how to add asset account, instead of how to add a fixed asset.
@thehomebookkeeper5 ай бұрын
My channel is geared toward small business owners and beginners. This video is still how you add an asset, but thank you. Glad you found what you were looking for
@mayloomis96385 ай бұрын
@thehomebookkeeper I mean, it's how you add an account to put assets into, sort of, except you seem to be basing it on 1 asset, which is confusing. The starting balance would be 0 and then you would put the bill or expense or journal, whatever, into it, if you aren't using qb to track the asset. Then when you do your return you'd take the depreciation off of that and enter it as an adjustment, into the depreciation contra account and the depreciation expense account. That would be the beginner friendly method.

We are fixing to get our rv park open with close to 50 spots, I have never used quickbooks and someone has tried to show me, but I feel like I'm not utilizing it enough. right now we just have money we have b been spending for building it and then paying for surveys and the water and sewer bill. I was wondering if you had a video to show me how to use quickbooks on when we start having the spots rented out, what I need to do. we may have spots rented for whole year or they may just have most that are weekend rentals. I am also not sure about making bills for every bill I get in with the water, I just add it under utilities/water and sewer. I don't make a bill. not sure if I'm doing this right. Im looking into using camp life reservation online for people to rent out the spots and that's about all I know . Im not sure what to do. No one I know seems to know what to do cause they have customers they send invoices to and ours will be paying as soon as they rent the spot. If you have any ideas I'd greatly appreciate it. Im at a loss and do not know who to ask to make sure I'm doing stuff correct before we open the park.

You want the running total of the owners draws to be recorded on the balance sheet. Those numbers are needed for tax purposes. They are not tax deductible
