Can you do some more of these videos? I’d love to hear the answers to all the other cards. I think it’s time for some more wisdom from Andrés 2 years later :)

Excellent point on the boring high density without street life.

Should we trust Modernism? Is that what your Mom sees when something that has never been done before' is coming down the pike? I don't think so. She is probably thinking of technological advancements that have sped up our lives so much: telephones, cars, airplanes, moon shots, the internet. But it is different with the urbanism. In his 1970s in a French book 'Formes Urbaines'-English edition 2004- Phillippe Panerai described how even Corbu's 'Unite d'Habitations' were churned out as so much real estate product with less and less invention, and more and more standardization. In urbanism, the lasting values of place rule. So, yeah, did you consult and think about past precedents in Seaside? Did Leon? You bet. I've been there. But it doesn't stop it from feeling fresh and brand new. The typology of human scale urbanism works that way. So, no, don't trust the Modernism. Just focus on being modern.

Paul Goldberger in 'NYC: The City Observed' brought out the point of American cities having to do wth 'private luxury and public squalor'. I think that disqualifies a place as an exemplary city.

I'm not a Planner, but I find this topic so fascinating. Planning is so tangible that I think all people should have some understanding of it's intricacies on our lives. My whole life I knew there was something wrong with the suburbs, but I could never put my finger on it.

Love the vision of a suited up retired man with a cane, sitting at a corner café of some busy 'rue de something' people-watching. I would also have The Economist on my table and give random advice to strangers across tables like 'ooh you must order d'Œufs bénédicte at once, I know the good farmer they buy the eggs from...' Please make more of these episodes.

Can be hard to solve climate change locally in Miami or other places that will find themselves under sea level.

Andres makes a throw away comment about slow transportation and the success of small towns. Such an interesting thought.

Well, damn. I might be too much of a weirdo. I think I like the dirt way more than I do the people, ;-)

Any adaptation measures must also mitigate or there will be no people left to do the adapting.

Thank you!, for all the AH HA moments, during my time at Univ. of Miami, and since...... You and Lizz (and many other of my Miami friends), changed the course my life. I value what I learned 30 years ago and I could never really express how much it has meant. My best to all at DPZ, Jim Carroll
