Merci for this masterclass on Moulin de Ville. I've only started playing this piece, but your advice has changed my way to approach these pieces. I have transposed 1, 2 and 4 into other keys, and will do that with each of them as I progress.

I'm a little confused since this doesn't follow the order of the pieces. Number four should be La Petite Réunion. Excellent advice nevertheless.

You are right, Robert must have confused that.

A master class for Moulin de Ville. I'm using these now and my piano teacher is overjoyed. I've been transposing 1, 2 and 4 into other keys, and have been neglecting this beautiful melodic piece. That will change.

Merci beaucoup from Switzerland. Great lesson. I'm learning the first five études, and spending time to get them musical. And I'm transposing them into other keys. I was trying to think as if I was in a minor scale, but my teacher and my concert pianist friend both keep it in the relative Major scale. So now I'm changing. And I listened attentively to your recommendations. Did I say that this was a very informative video series? It's a master class.

I have advice from several piano teachers that Moulin de Ville is one of the best ways to learn a good "method" of piano playing. I've started on the first five, and have started transposing them into other keys. La Candeur is a pentatonic study, Arabesque is minor and La Petite Réunion is a study in thirds. The measure that Robert talked about the G and the F sharp is a vi half diminished chord that becomes fully diminished. I had played it wrong since I hadn't paid attention to the held half notes. That will be corrected next time I'm at the piano.

This is really SO important but isnt discussed enough. I have been having postural issues recently and I just remembered what my choir director would always say back in the day and now that im trying it all over again i now know exactly why they told us to do so. and thank you for mentioned the knees lower than the hips and tall people cause I did not pay attention to that but as a tall person its so important.

6:25 Actually they now make Steel Core Strings that have the same sound as Gut Core Strings where instead of having a Solid Steel Core, it's a Stranded Steel Core.

Would you say switching from flute to piccolo was particularly rough? What would you say are the major differences in how you hold and breathe? I’m going to join the marching band, and am going to band camp over the summer. The high schoolers in my section said they will do piccolo tryouts at Band Camp, however they specially want me on piccolo. If I ever get the part, what would I look out for the most?

Virtual Sheet Music I have Helicore strings which are made to sound like gut strings as their core is multiple steel wires twisted together. The other thing I do is to do a "hole in the heart surgery" which is where the action between the soundpost & the treble bridge foot is bypassed
