Finally got around to watching thank you for taking the time. What I found most useful as a new player was just your comments of what ratings to focus on. Not focusing on babip in modern area but trading that off for stuff as you go back. Range for for CF I knew but didn't really understand more important the arm in RF vs the range. And double play for 2b blew my mind I never in a million years would have thought to even look at that. So thank you

Thank you for the comment! Yes, OOTP uses 2010 as the year for their modern era environment. League play and many tournaments show 'modern era' which is based off 2010. If you have suggestions for future tutorials please let me know in the comments!

@@laptophound thanks mate. Just downloaded the game last week and #ADDICTED. Some suggestions to go along with your For Dummies/Newbies: 1) Video explaining strategy with the team, pitchers, batters etc. I followed your Bronze tourny suggestions and can't win a game. Partly I'm sure because of varience and those bloody combinators. But also maybe my team isn't playing like your team? 2) Just like you went through explaining the bronze. Maybe a general perfect team for a beginner. It took me a week to just naturally generate enough PP to do all the live missions. So I have a tonne of Diamond players like any new player would. But is it like bronze where you want power over contact? Control and HR supression over K? Just things like that that you have learned obviously seeing 1000's of simulations. Thank you so much!

Thanks for the suggestion - keep plugging away - Monday there are new tournaments coming out - the iron/bronze/silver will have quicks with one combinator MAX and no chemistry on - I suggest you enter those - I think you will have some early success with the roster I built in the video.

Yes the left is LHB and right is RHB for BABIP and HR - it is not split for 2B and 3B (that's basically gap power and speed)

You definitely want RIGHT HANDED BATTERS with high power and eye - good gap power and BABIP help too. For pitchers (either throwing arm) you want them to have High HRR vs RHB and good control (both sides) then high stuff - PBABIP is the least important of the four but still want it above 40 if possible

I just downloaded the patch. There are some things I like and there are some things I don't like. I like being able to jump into close games and make the on the field moves. I don't like the fact that you can adjust the league settings. I don't like the fact that you can't adjust individual strategy. I don't like that you can hire your coaches, scout, or set budgets. At least not during the season. I haven't gotten to the first off season yet, because the game crashed (still unstable) in early May. I see that the developmental sliders work, but what about the development lab? You know, this would be a great option to add to the traditional game. It would just give you a choice on how you want to play out your seasons. But as a stand alone, I don't like it. At least not yet.

Thanks for the comment. I do like the concept behind a faster way to play the base game. I am hoping they fix some of the bugs early on. It is a little tedious to jump in as much as it is now - I would rather it be less frequent - as right now it is every day or two. The AI Trades are pretty bad too - repetitive and extremely poor offers. As with any new feature they usually make improvements! Thanks again for watching the video!!!

It's my understanding once the season ends you go straight to a base game set up. You can only play through one season. It is something they have said they may change in future updates - likely not until the next version though.

Great video’s! Line drive balls go often through the diamond instead of groundballs. Why do you bump up the hit and run with groundball hitters? Since those balls will almost never leave the diamond.

Really enjoyed this video. Very helpful in understanding the way things work from someone that has played for a long while. I never even noticed that you could turn off the scores which was good to learn as I like the idea of watching the some of the games ‘blind’ so to speak. I was playing 24 for a short while recently having only just got the game working on my laptop and now just starting 25 (the Go version but will be getting the full game this weekend). Will you be doing a25 video as well? I know it’s basically the same but it would be good to hear from you abt any things that have changed.

Yes, you need to be watching a live stream. They go to everyone…a limit of five packs per day. Everyday you can collect. But you have to watch live. Or at least have it on in your background. I stream on Twitch Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursday at 1PM EST

Yes - for each team you need to watch the stream live to collect packs every 15 minutes to a max of five per day. This is for every viewer that has their OOTP team connected to Twitch as shown in the video.

I have a problem. I am playing a team in regular Perfect Team, so how do I create a Bronze list to play over in the tournaments. My regular team is in the way! I am so lost and confused! PLEASE HELP!

As mentioned in the last reply - you have to click on Show Tournaments on your login screen - then click traditional at the top - in the roster restriction menu top center select bronze or lower - enter a bronze tournament - create your roster and save by doing what I mentioned in the previous answer!!!

You still haven't explained how to get the cards ONTO the roster so that we can save it! I cannot do it, and it is SO frustrating! Also, yesterday, I bought some players who went directly to the roster, then I saved it, and today, it's not saved anywhere anymore! And the cards that I saved are all Inactive! What's that all about?

Hi, thanks for the comment - once you create your 26 man bronze roster in a TOURNAMENt (ie Bronze quick or bronze brunch) go to the right hand top to bottom menu and select the two arrows at the bottom - then go to the top right where it says import/export and select 'export roster to file' - name it and then any bronze tournament you enter go to the same page and select 'import roster to file' and it will bring in the same lineup, sliders etc that you saved. Hope that helps!!!

Hi! When you are in the replay or watching a game go to your options at the top - there will be something that says DRAW BALL FLIGHT ARC - set that to always - hope that helps!!! If it doesn't I will show it next video

Speaking of PTMS any chance you could go over a low diamond meta report, it doesn't have to be PTMS park specific as that might take the fun out of it. I normally play *1s (Opens) ,7s (Wildcards), and Weeklys so low diamond isn't really something I ever play. I managed to win one of the PTCS and got three 3/4s in the formats I do play so I've found myself in the PTMS, but in a format I never really play. I took a look at low diamond starting pitching and it looks pretty awful (the bullpen looks like it has some quality), lol.

Thanks for the stream it was very interesting, but it did leave me with a lot of questions. Pitchers that have super low HR resist went fairly high like PT Elite Tyler Wells, people said it was a good pick so it must be but would he not get lit up regularly by like Hank Aaron and A-Rod? He's just min/maxed and you deal with the HRs I take it? Another pitching question related to Bronze which you might be the authority on I think Luis Castillo was the first bronze SP off the board and he's good but is he much better (or better at all, I mean he must be because I'm sure these guys know what they are doing) than the Bronze All-Star Sonny Gray? I think I have them both in my personal top 5 Bronze Pitchers (I'm probably missing LEs and things) and I have Sonny slightly ahead, but that might be wrong because like I said Luis was one of the first Bronze SP off the board and Sonny was totally ignored. Lots to learn from watching this, but I did have some questions after lol.

Thanks for the comment!!! I asked Astor31 who drafted both players and this was his response - I hope it helps "1. I love Wells in general, but he was especially good for this format. The ballpark and era (1987) suppresses power. That helps diminish Wells' primary weakness. His secondary weakness is stamina, which is also helped by playing in 1987 Wells has a higher pBAPIP than any other starter, and strong control so you hope that when he does allow homers there is no one on base. A couple of solo shots in unlikely to kill you I feel like I got the equivalent of a low D starter in a high silver slot and then could use the low d slot for an elite hitter like Belle." "2. I am definitely not the bronze expert. However, Castillo was an odd pick because of where I was in the draft. I had left my 2nd perfect spot open but wasn't sure if I was going to take Othani, degrom or a hitter like Manny/Greenberg. I wanted to grab a high bronze 5th starter who could switch to BP if I ended up taking othani or degrom. I have Castillo and Giolito as the best options in bronze (and also solid low silver options) Think both are a tier above Gray"

@@laptophound Awesome! tell him thanks so much for the response! I was very interested in the Wells thing, so its good to know in HR suppression parks he's playable maybe I'll give him a shot. Normally I'm scared to put anyone with 30 HR resist out there, but I'll give it a try and see how it goes. I don't fully get the Castillo/Grey thing, but I'm thinking its the stuff difference? Castillo is +25 stuff, -21 Movement, -23 HR resistance, +5 PBAIP, -6 Control. So I'm guessing its the Stuff because Gray is better at everything else besides the 5 PABIP (which isn't a huge huge difference). I think this might make sense because I remember Charles saying that midrange stuff counts more than high range stuff so the 89 to 64 is probably a bigger 25 stuff difference than I'm used to when looking at like 100s that might have like 134 stuff v 149 stuff. Now if we could just get this feast of the seven Sporer's tourney to fill up it'd be a great evening of OOTP....even if I did lose in the WS, lol.

You are playing real people in Perfect Team - the AI controls the game mechanics but real players like you choose the cards and settings for games to play out! Congrats on getting promoted. Super helpful, but a suggestion for the future cards that don't play in league it would be helpful if he could suggest where he would play him (like he did for the Webb) for example would Soto play in OOTP era or his defense/bat is still too poor...I think currently I'm running the BBR Harper and the PTE Corbin. I'd guess he's not better than either of them since he said he's worse than Corbin, but what do I know. (I guess the other corner OF in modern might be Langford but Isadolfo did say Langford was a bait card, lol).

Great to hear you guys talk about the ratings and what is good and bad its very helpful. I think i'm at the point where I can tell what is a bad card fairly well, but sometimes its hard to tell if a card is good or not...if that makes sense. It is interesting that when you had Mr. Black on he was willing to sacrafice one or two positions for a great defender even if they have a poor bat, but Isidafo said never play bad bats even if they have outstanding defense.

Oh also unrelated to the above he said Ted Williams didn't work properlly or something in league play, any clue what he meant and is it Ted Williams specific or is also something that affects other players in league play?

Thanks for the comment! Glad you found it useful. I think Mr. Black was referring more to a cap tournament situation - sacrifice bat for glove. In league or open tournaments then you don't want to sacrifice as much as you can choose any cards you want - cap you have to make some tough choices!

That question is a very good one that we don’t really have a clear answer to at the moment. The current theory is that it’s related to some league normalization stuff (so not an issue in tournaments). It’s possible Williams is just bugged but I don’t think that’s very likely, so it will probably affect other cards as well. (from Isidafo)
