i test drove one, a base model 2018, the seats in it just did not do it for me, not adequately adjustable for my tall frame. i ended up having to sit on the point of my butt, and when i raised the seat that just put all the weight on the small of my back, even worse. a pity, considering how quiet, smooth-riding and refined a vehicle it was otherwise.

This is unfortunate this is a very common problem you can try unplugging the battery very carefully make sure both cables are detached touch the cables together for 10 seconds then hook back up the battery if this doesn't work you will have to go to a VW dealer and they will have to use their system to reprogram the keys

I had the same problem, just manually reprogramed yoir key its easy Take off the plastic cover from driver door handle, insert the key and turn it to open, while you press the unlock botton twice and u will hear abeep and problem fixed Good luck@@seanjoseph4611

there’s a little spot on the side of the steering wheel where you put the key when it says that. hold it there while you push the button and it should start

Brake Assist problems.... disconnect the front bumper radar sensor and tape up the plug to stop water getting in. The brakes will go back to normal so the driver has full control

VW Assist Braking and more....But so hate the way that VW and others are going with Assisted Braking and Assist this as Assist that but does not Assist our pocket with apox £5K going on top of the prices with Online Connected Vehicles. Until you can opt out of these features when ordering new they have lost me as a 20 year VW customer to buy New again! keep with my older vehicle with out the junk. I want to drive not the VW Computer as VW have a law suite in the US against them on Assisted Braking. Which i have had problem that slams on the Brakes! with along with Stop/Start that won't re-start the vehicle and leaves you Dead in the Road!

I have had the Stop/Start System fail on me as well as the Brakes being Slammed on!. Have disconnected both systems and WILL NOT BUY a new Vehicle again till you can Opt out of these Driver Control Items. That are just raising costs and putting us in Danger. Even see cars on the M25 in Fog with no rear lights on and the dash board fully lit. MADNESS!!!

I just can't understand how VW could fuck up like this. I have the arteon and I don't trust any of the safety systems. My 2021 is the top trim, and you would expect seamless and rational operation but nope...it's a freaking guessing game. I must say however that the Adaptive Cruise Control seems to work pretty good as it's intended. VW should do a better job, because at $48k this is a total disgrace to be selling substandard vehicles. My front collision avoidance has delayed reaction. The rear cross traffic during reverse doesn't even alert me to pedestrian nor vehicles...with all the sensors and camera. My previous car only had cameras in the back and on the windscreen rear view mirror, and its collision avoidance was premium, and the rear cross traffic was like a sentinel.

To Turn off the system on all VW/Audi /Skoda completely if you are finding this interfering with normal driving and finding this very unnerving when it cuts in when not wanted. Take the cover off the Radar sensor in the front grill then unplug. Then tape over the cable plug to stop water getting in with good quality insulating tape or a waterproof tape. This as far as i am aware this will put the vehicle back to standard braking. But test the vehicles braking before going on a journey to make sure the vehicle can do a emergency stop by doing this yourself. (Did this with 19 Plate VW Transporter) As Manufacture would not risk the front grill/radar sensor if damaged, the brakes must continue to work as standard. The Front Assist will then disappear from the on dash/screen menu

There is a Class action lawsuit against Volkswagen Group of America on this exact issue. Viewers from the United States experiencing this are advised to join the Class action lawsuit. I don't know if there is one such in Europe. To learn more on this search "VW Front Assist Class Action Lawsuit " on Google. You should easily see instructions on how to join the lawsuit. Hope this helps those affected, because Volkswagen has know about this for some years now, but has silently not done a recall.

My polo i bought a year ago had this issue, car went back and forth with dealership saying they fixed it...when they had not. So i contacted Volkswagen UK directly (not via the 3rd party dealership) and they instantly requested to see the car themselves, and after a week recalled it and gave me full refund on original price of vehicle (even tho i had used it for 6 months). So in UK i guess if u have this issue contact VW directly and not the dealership.

VW will NOT let you opt out of buying a vehicle without these system and and other Gadgets that add more and more to the price. This braking system is scary....i won’t be buying another new VW again and i been having VW for over 20 years. 2022 they take over your accelerator pedal too, as they are connected to the internet. These devices must worry the hell out of insurance vehicles. I have told my insurance that i have disconnected the stop/start and Auto Braking System. They said this is fine as long as the vehicle still stops/starts and brakes by the drivers input commands Vehicle manufactures still have cars driving around at night with their dash board lights on, but No rear lights on is so so unsafe. Keep it simple... If you have no re-lights on the dash board is not lit!!!!! Very scary in fog on the M25 when you come up behind another car with no rear lights on😳 Stop-Start System 2015 VW Stop Start would not re-start the engine after stopping. Almost had a Scaffold lorry and another car go into the back of me. Happened on the M25 too when i forgot to switch it off. Had to sell the VW Transporter as the dealer could not stop it from happening. VW will be known for the.cars that scare the living sh.t out of their customers!! These systems need to be taken off before someone dies or get injured. These systems are used on VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda and other vehicles. Check before you buy or use a 3rd party to disconnect them

I got a 2016 model Passat B8, front-assist only beeps and brakes when i brake late or not hard enough according to the car. So its basicaly working fine, i havent had any issues with it so far.

I took a 2019 Golf R for a test drive and the brake assist was pure annoyance BUT it was nowhere near as annoying nor as concerning than when the car actually applied throttle automatically as I was beginning my ascend up the dealership driveway! Yeah....it decided to blip the throttle to give me a helping push-along, I guess it didn't like how much throttle I applied relative to the gradient of the driveway. It was this experience that caused me to walk away from this technology.

i think no one except system designer know about this feature in details .....dealer know only front assist named feature in vw car, but how it work they don't know and even document don't tell you anything properly.....and car surprise you suddenly on highway with sudden braking without any obstruct .. Front Assist = Surprise

Front assist = surprise. I agree , but actually front assist braking will be always a surprise. Specially when working normally, surprising a distracted driver and avoiding an accident. 🙂

Hi, I have a Passat GTE 2017. Today I had a passenger on board and I was on a B road when suddenly it just came on causing the car to Break sharp, ,and the car Dashboard red alert sign came on. I don’t know what to think. I am little worried , wondering if it will come on again.
