Having cleaned far too many EGRs and intakes on N70s (and lots of other makes), I am highly dubious about your solvent cleaning method. I know it’s not cool to be so cynical without evidence, but the decades of cumulative experience in our shop says that solvent only cleaning without mechanical removal of baked oil/soot deposits is practically worthless. I’d love someone to do a before and after of that method to see how much gunk you really remove, not just from the EGR but also the elbow, the inlet into the top of the manifold, and around the butterfly valves (particularly #4 & #3 cylinders). The ONLY method proven to make a tangible difference to de-restricting intake flow is ultrasonic cleaning after fully dismantling the intake system. That’s our experience.

Unbolting and unscrewing the unit seems like a really poor method of cleaning, just imagine the mess if you left it so long that the oil level got above the thread. Why not drill, tap and fit a valve and hose to the bottom and run it low so you can drain it off easy as?
