The Indian dance is interesting for its differences from the western. The postures taken by the woman feature one, especially, that is not common in the west, a frontal facing with knees bent but in the plane of the dancer's outstretched arms rather than perpendicularly to it. I don't find that attractive as a pose. It is a matter of taste, certainly, but it is not mine. I don't see anything like that in classical ballet nor in jazz dancing or ballroom dancing. I do see it in several genres of Asian dancing.
