For anyone wanting a PROPER explanation, he’s supposed to do two skills: a mount followed by a dismount. But in the mount, he wasn’t able to rotate fast enough (stuck in the flip) to end it properly. He was supposed to open up from the tuck position sooner so he could end with his chest up and arms extended straight up and next to his ears. This position is called the “set” for the dismount, and it is crucial to be able to execute it properly. But you can see in the part he points out that his arms are bent and not by his ears, and his body barely gets over quick enough to get his head and chest up. Respectfully, this is not a good set, and that that’s the whole point. This could have ended pretty badly, but he beat the odds and miraculously stuck the dismount. That’s why it’s so shocking!

I wish someone would tell the athletes to smile at the end of their routine...don't give the judges any ammo. Smiling is a positive thing to do as opposed to shaking your head in disgust or sullen...it's just psychological.
