I was pointing my feet thinking it was better. Thanks for the correction, I learn a lot from these videos.

Uke also needs to ensure his leg is not bent. The leg should be straight so impact of the floor goes through the calf and upper leg muscles. Currently uke is landing and knee is taking the force from the floor.

Thanks for this. When I was doing my 4th Kyu, I couldn't understand the mechanics of going from Ko to osoto at all. I just presumed the kouchi was only half successful and brought the foot closer to your planted foot, not being a step off and cross body osoto. Thank you.

Great video! I love this throw. I have pretty good success doing this by starting with the sleeve grip, and then baiting my opponent to reach in to grab my lapel. As he reaches in, I parry his arm across while grabbing the sleeve close to the elbow, and then finishing the throw. It's a nice way to let them build their own momentum if you stay just far enough away that they have to step to reach you. I guess that's a Sode tsurikomi goshi, though. Cheers!

I recently had a large male judoka do this on me in a simple turn the turtle exercise resulting me crashing on my neck badly. I think I got a mild injury. I try to politely avoid too big opponents from now on.

My favorite throw from way back. As a high school wrestler, my favorite technique was a head and arm throw. My instructor, Donald Tyrell Sensei called it a Kubi Nage.

Good throw, I find where uke trys to evade, you end up with a harai makikomi.

This is a good one. A wrestling style single or double leg is the most common takedown in my (and certainly many other) BJJ gym. I like this version instead because of the options it gives you alternative to the single leg. I have had nice success with this by hitting it after an uchi mata attempt. If uke manages to avoid the leg lift, you can quickly pivot back around into him and nail this single leg.

Very nice -- we're playing with yoko wakare in our current semester, and this looks like a really approachable way to start. Some students are a bit shy of the "step to the side and fall like a tree" version :-).

Is this technique exactly the same as the one khabib used? I am Japanese, so I don't know the details, but is it elbow to elbow gut wrench?

You can also do this no gi by using 2 underhooks on the arm.

Very cool turn over, I first saw this on Flavio Canto's juji gatame dvd. He has one minor tweak to it: he pushes the left arm up from the side, then uses that arm to pull the right arm through from the head side, because people can defend it really tight. He also put some emphasis on straightening the "support" leg that's flexed against the head to create that shift in balance (I think you guys did it somewhat instinctively here).

Our club teaches to pin their right arm down towards their back pocket and make us heavy on them with both hands as we do ouchi. So it is weird for me to see you lifting for the kiuushi.

Great! 👍 But I would rather see the long man doing the throw on the short woman.😅❤ Of course the smaller woman is faster and this type of throw against a longer tori is "easier". ❤ (So that long individuals don't think that they are hopeless compared to her. They got the physics against them. But in the other hand they have another different advantages to use.)🎉 What is NOT instructed in the video is that a double sleave kumi kata has also the advantage that you double the chance for a entry and it don't matter if the tori goes right or left.😮 when with double lapel you can do left or right ippon seoi nage entry! 😅❤
