This is really great, thank you for the slow movements. Easy to understand. Any idea what the exact name of the movement is?

Glad you found it useful Dylan. It is a quite popular form in China called Wuxing Qigong. I don’t know the individual animal names in Chinese.. Wish I could be more helpful.best, r

Thank you for the videos, i was looking for instructional videos for this form for a while. Could you add indicators for the five movements when to inhale/exhale/hold the breath? maybe in the comments or as video overlays. <3

Hannes, Thank you for the question/comment. I was given instruction on how to link the movement with the breathing. Without going over each form the essential pattern is when one is twisting or moving the arms away from the dantien, one is exhaling, and when coming back to facing center and when returning the arms toward the body, inhaling. So, for dragon, as one steps out and pushes the arms outward while twisting, exhale. Hold the breath in the extended position, and then as the inhale begins untwist the body, step back in, and bring hands back to holding the pearl. Each form can be broken down in a similar fashion (note leopard has exhale, then inhale, then exhale into extended pose, then long inhale all the way back to pearl). However, I was also taught and encouraged to practice with a different breathing method which I prefer. This method is to cultivate a yuan breath (original breath) by not controlling or regulating the breath in anyway. Rather, allow the breath to happen as it does, remaining calm so the chi will collect in the dantien. The movements then should be done as slow as possible, much slower than the pace of the recording. In my experience, with practice their are large gaps of 'no breath', meaning the breath is in an original state. Here their is no need for the inhale or exhale to be happening and then spontaneously the breath cycle moves on when it is ready. The same is true for how long to hold the movements. I have found the second method much more useful in my journey, but try both and see what works best for you. Hope this helps, R

Rosali, thanks for writing. I will try to add some beginner instructional content for you in other videos. I will link them to this playlist. I will include the basics of qigong practice. If there is a more specific instruction/question, please write and I will try to address the question directly. I also hope to be timely in my response. Best, R
