IMO, it's like a radio stuck between decades (i.e. - Advanced noise reduction? Yes ... Memory channels? No Sketchy Encoder? Yes), and you're correct in pointing out the wasted space, taken up by the echo knobs. I guess your model had an issue with the hi-cut only. The one I received had this global issue on the Roger Beep and NB/ANL... I didn't get the whine, on either the one I returned or it's replacement (I returned the first one for having to turn nb/anl "on" on every channel and the channel channel selector/encoder would, frequently enough to aggravate me, jump several channels when trying to go up/down just one), as well, it would go a different direction than the one I wanted (i.e. - I'd want to go down in frequency, but it went up instead), and even if I tried turning the channel selector in the other direction, it STILL went the wrong way (quickly moving the selector back and forth was the temporary fix for that). I really wanted to like this radio: It had a large display, a 4-pin cobra/uniden wired mic jack, and an actual jack for a CW key, a Roger Beep that was simply one beep,and a low price. The replacement I received holds the RB on any channel, but not always the NB/ANL, and the jury is still out regarding the channel encoder. I'm still not sure if I should keep it. Thanks for the video, and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has had a few bugs!

I’ve seen a video that the Galaxy 959G has a similar problem with the screen noise. Have you tried earphones ?

Just get a 2950

That is common on many radios with processors inside of them. So what is the problem? You want perfection?

I have the AT 5555 Plus but I have a constant ringing in my ears so I haven't noticed it. ✌✌

On the galaxy with the el display, I just moved the el board further away from the face plate, problem solved.

That's interesting. Do you know if that mod can be done on the HS4?

I only get this on a few select frequencies, but my QT60 Pro is fine (strange). Thanks for bringing it up.

My QT60 is fantastic, too, with no such issues. Thanks!

Many "CB" style radios have this issue to varying degrees. The president McKinley I have is particularly bad. it doesn't bother me on the Retevis, but I did notice it and forgot to mention it in the review video I did on that radio.

"SevenFortyOne ... SevenFortyOne ... why does that sound familiar?" Then I realized I watched your CB900 video this morning. Thanks for the comment and keep up the good work!

That is from the inverter for the light of the face plate. Turn off the light. All do that.
@RadioWaysActualАй бұрын
Thanks for the input. Unfortunately, you cannot turn off the light. You can turn off the data displayed but you cannot disable the backlight, which I understand is the source of the noise. So, no matter what, you cannot turn "off" the noise.

Mine does it but I really have to listen for it. Doesn’t bother me at all. I love mine.

Great input, thanks a lot. Yeah I really like the HS4 as well. For me, it would be a keeper if not for that noise, but I'm probably in the minority.

@@RadioWaysActual Mine is the AnyTone at5555 plus. I can only hear it if I turn the volume completely down. Once I turn up the volume just a small bit I can no longer hear it even if I place my ear to it. Perhaps though you can.

@@GbHill59 During the work day I sometimes will have the radio scanning at low volume. My workstation is about 6 feet from the radio table and, unfortunately, I can hear it. Thanks again for the input.
