great bikes!... seems like your living your dreams...i want to get into customizing and mechanical work myself... i just turned 35... so you think it's to late? how do you suggest i start off with? i just bought a brand new iron 883 so there really isn't anything to fix other than customizing it but mostly its just bolt on stuff.. anyhow. what should be the first set of tools i should get? thanks... ride safe.

ride the iron 883 long enough to know how to ride decently, then sell it for as much as you can, buy the cheapest running big twin harley you can, count on spending 5-9k in parts and labor you cant do yourself. get a torque wrench a sawzall a grinder various screw drivers and Allen keys. get the frame hardtailed slap an at least 4 inch over stock front end on it. get it running slap a decent seat on and you're done until you want to add more shit. there ya go, theres the bone stock basics of building a chopper. if you have money buy more tools like a tig welder, lathe, mill, whatever. or borrow them from a friend. but most importantly. go to chopcult and read everything you can on the forums and ask the guys there shit. actually most importantly, get rid of the 883 sporty.
