Why are we looking at this bear that's like 9000 feet away??? If yer gonna go bear watching take a walk! And, no, I'm not crazy, I just respect them, and don't go walking where their dens are. Know your area, folks. Take a ride horseback, your horse will tell you where the bears are. It'll just stop and refuse. That's where you don't go any further. Mark the spot on a map and make a mental note of it so the next time you take a different route. Or take the same route with a hunter who can scope the territory and confirm that, yes, there's a bears den there, or no, there's a kill site/carrion there. Whichever. Then at least you know there's a predator in the area, and maybe it's not a bear. The hunter should be able to tell what kind of predator. Use yer heads or don't go in the woods at all. Stay home and read a book about them instead, learn first. Then go looking. Man! Yeah! Let's go see grizzlies! With binoculars!...sheesh! Why bother....if yer gonna go to the trouble of going to Denali, go to a salmon run WHEN they're running! Then stand by and watch the grizzlies catch 'em! If you stay quiet, don't move, don't have an odor, arent afraid and make no noise, you can watch them till the cows come home. Man, I just don't get it...
