He has one of the best voices ever. He doesn’t even “play” this role.. He becomes this role. It is so captivating.. He has the ability to have you feel like you’re feeling what he feels, it feels like you’re right there with him… I can’t even properly put into words what him performing Valjean does to me. It’s just remarkable.

I also get a deep emotional response listening to Colm Wilkinson's voice and watching his physical interpretation of "Bring Him Home." The other Valjeans also have beautiful trained voices, but when he sings it, it transcends being a performance; it becomes the prayer it was intended to be.

Seeing Michael Burgess was my intro to Les Mis. When It came available I watched Colm's Performance from the 10th anniversary and was blown away by his style of singing. Then Saw him In Phantom in Toronto. Fast forward to 2024. I'll be taking my niece to see the show in 2024 :)

Takes me back to our School production of this at Sir Roger Manwood's Grammar School, Sandwich in about 1982. I was Melchior. We had very talented young students on the organ and piano and the music master brought in some of his friends on bass and drums.

Good voice, pathetic guitar strumming. That‘s what „cats“ sound like, only when you step on their tails. I'm a little embarrassed that he was my choice for Phantom of the Opera.

FYI: I was part of the music theatre program at Wexford Collegiate and I am in this performance as part of the choir! This was such an exciting day and I still have great memories from being on the telethon. The guy singing with Colm and Michael is Peter Deiwick. He went on to perform in some of the Mirvish produced musicals in Toronto including Mamma Mia and Rock of Ages. Thank you for sharing this!

This bothers me because Colm Wilkinson overpowers Michael Burgess. To me, the only really good part of this whole performance is the first line sung by Michael Burgess. He has such sensitivity in his voice. His voice is gorgeous. Wilkinson is just annoying.

Forever Grateful for the music of Jackie Trent. Jackie was was possibly the finest female vocalist/songwriter of the 1960s and beyond. She gave up a amazing career to marry, and co-write music with her husband. Her lyrics and music skyrocketed many famous stars, including Petula Clark. ('Joanna." "Colour My World" and "Downtown", to name a few. "The Card" musical on the novel by Arnold Bennett). Sadly, Jackie is not credited enough for all of her amazing contributions. Thanks Jackie for putting the music to "Rock Nativity" and many more. RIP Yvonne Burgess (AKA Jackie Trent) xxoo

I’m surprised they didn’t perform “One Day More.” But then, they did “One Day More” at the Tonys, so maybe they specifically wanted to do something different here. At such a family- and child-centric event as the Macy’s Parade, maybe it made sense to highlight Gavroche and Young Cosette instead.
