Just got the wharnecliff F3 LT. You are on point with everything. For 395, it's a yes for me. I got mine on pre order also. At 495 I think that's too much for this knife. Very informative vid. Keep up the good work. My detent for the flipper is extremely light was kind of disappointing but the spydie or reverse flick feels good. The ergos are weird hopefully I can get used to it. Feels super solid with the lock up and it's thin hollow grind will slice well.
@edc_elias-kb9mb6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the response! I try to be impartial with my knife videos, and I definitely stand by the pre-order price on these guys. I think it’d be interesting to try a different more expensive Curtiss, but am worried that the details would be lacking there too. The blade it self was definitely the right stock, and loved the grind angle, but the things I brought up in this video ultimately led me to trading the knife away. Appreciate your support!

I ended up sending mine back, listed all my issues, and asked for a refund, unfortunately I was met with “You can send it in for inspection” The action on mine was super gritty, the detent was ridiculous strong, and my flipper tab was extremely sharp. I have knives that cost hundreds less and have exceptionally better action and QC. He has had my knife for well over a month now, with zero communication, even though he told me over a month ago he would “have it done this weekend” Never again will I spend a dime on Curtiss knives. I can accept a knife having issues, I can’t accept a maker who basically tells his customers to F off, in so many words. Be cautious guys. I wouldn’t buy anything from Curtiss.
@lorenfuchek1055 ай бұрын
@danw9865 I will not be buying any ever again either. My detent is super light one side of the blade is covered in scratches while the other side is pristine. Action hasn't got much better unless I loosen up the pivot so much the blade rocks. Not for me. I also had to wait a little over 4 months when the site says 6 to 8 weeks. With zero communication when I emailed him. It sucks because I believe I could be such a good knife.

Spyderco should also be up there. They came with so many innovations. Steelwise or some features you saw on high end customs became reachable fornthe everyday joe. And brought many custom locking mechanisms to the big market. They were the first with the one hand opening and the first with a pocketclip. And ofcourse with pocket sharpening solutions.

Though Andrew Demko is unequivocally a pillar of the current modern American knife community, in the era of the “holy trinity” he was still working at cold steel and not running his own shop. Cold steel was mostly making budget knives, in budget steels. Though they had the triad lock (designed by Andrew) they were not a pillar of the knife world.

I wish they made a version without the silly finger choil. So much cutting edge wasted and if your cutting cardboard just gripping the scales its gonna get caught in the choil all the time and drive you nuts! A finger choil is just not necessary on a knife that has a full grip like this.
@edc_elias-kb9mb10 ай бұрын
I love a big front finger choil like the Midnight has! Love being able to choke up on a knife regardless of other grip options. Definitely does reduce the cutting edge though, like you said.

In the end, I'm 3.5 the same as your list, with FSDi, Rosie, Zaan, and (mini) Arius non-flipper. No. 1 for me however, has been the Nic Nichols Guppy. It's a tank of a cutter.
