Wow! fantastic. I only like a few Beatles covers (Junior Parker's Tomorrow Never Knows being my fave) but just discovered this great live version of You've Got To Hide Your Love Away, from 1966, by the equally great Dennis Wilson. Dennis's Forever is my favourite Beach Boys track too

The dichotomy of receiving repeated corporal punishment for their childhood, then immediately being showered with fame, money, and the power that comes with it in their teens seems to have affected the members in different ways really negatively. I pray he's in a better place now.

In the 80’s saw The Beach Boys at the Nassau Coliseum, good show but Dennis took the solo on only 1 song and it was You Are So Beautiful. His solo was so good never understood why he didn’t sing more. RIP Dennis.

He began writing songs on the Friends album and throughout the 60s and 70s. He's also had a solo album Pacific Ocean Blue and the unreleased Bambu. Fantastic albums once you get accustomed to Dennis' ragged vocals. Definitely check them out!

The Beach Boys could cover a Beatles tune, but it would be difficult for the Beatles to cover the Beach Boys, as the Beatles did not have the harmonies.

Not true. Listen to their three part harmonies on Nowhere Man, This Boy, Yes It Is, and Because. Then report back once you’ve heard all of them.
@Andermander429Ай бұрын
@@DJcool-tr1tk I love Nowhere Man and Because is definitely their harmonic masterpiece. The other songs are good but it's nowhere close to what the Beach Boys were doing on Today!, Pet Sounds and Smile Sessions showcases their brilliant, complex harmonies. I was a Beatles superfan before getting into the Beach Boys, I must say. They both have their strengths and weaknesses but I love them both equally and consider them to be the best of the best. Since I took the time to relisten, I ask you to do the same for Dont Worry Baby, She Knows Me Too Well, Wouldn't it Be Nice, Good Vibrations. Listen specifically to how well they blend together. I don't intend you to completely agree with me but just understand where I'm coming from.

What's with the spoken "Come now release your inhibitions now" mixed under the chorus at 1:43? Some kind of subliminal shit he picked up from Manson or what?
@ms85965 ай бұрын
That's Mike Love speaking, being the cornball he always is. Can't stand anyone else getting attention. About as "with it" as someone from his parents' generation would be. Always known for being pretty lame, even inappropriate. This song was recorded about a year and a half before Dennis met Manson.
