Had my tire off, watched your video and realized I didn't get axle flange gasket. Thanks for showing that so early in the video!!!

Hi Damon, are you sure we need to remove the seal sleeve/race? Does the new seal itself work like a bearing as the old seal? Thanks!

By far the best video describing the process and highlighting the type of seal. Great detail. It'd be good to mention some aftermarket seals ride directly against the axle housing and are not very reliable. Also, it'll save time if you adjust the parking brake not through the adjuster hole, but by expanding the adjuster with the rotor off. Then put the rotor on and check if you've adjusted it enough. You may have to take the rotor off and on a few times, but much easier than using the adjustment access hole.

Needs emergency brake shoes as well. I don't really see where the seal was leaking.

Ken, the driver side was leaking but it was easier to record the passenger side due to garage constraints. Your right, while I was in there I should have replaced parking brake shoes.

How often does the emergency brake actually stop the truck? For how the e-brake is used there are years of life left in those shoes

@@allenwilliams6882 Emergency brakes don't "Stop" the truck, it "holds" the truck from rolling or moving while parked. Thanks for your reply from 2 years ago though.

Thanks for all the work you did to show the seal replacement!!! Question...when you reinstalled the hub and used the hammer and metal bar were you seating the new metal race to the axle or were you seating the rubber seal? Also...it might help others if you title all the video's with the same title, but number them 1 to 5. KZbin does not run them in order. Does it end with this reinstall video that I'm commenting on? Thanks again!

I was seating the rear main seal inside the hub. Be gentle and keep it square as possible.

My left rear seal was leaking, that's what got me in there. My truck has had a pampered life, garage kept and well maintained.
