Recently my 4 sticks of G skill 6000, only works at 1.39Volt 5600 Mhz. As I understand the faster my ram run more heat is generated. So after adding ram fans to cool my ram, I can now run at 5800 Mhz 1.395 Volts stable with MEM 86 tested. I refuse to go for the top speed 6000 with higher voltage as it could shorten the life span of my ram in the long run.

Anybody watching this don’t buy it. I bought one and from day one the throttle never worked. I ignored it. Then the pedals just randomly stopped calibrating. I emailed support and they just said it’s window issues. Biggest waste of money ever.

Hey Bartman! Nice review and that unit looks pretty nice though the price is a bit much in my opinion. So I have been flying in sims and RL for a long time and my simming experience goes wayyyy back to the Golden Years of Flight Sims! Though I have to admit, these days seem so much more Golden than those did by far. Anyway, I’m sure you’ve heard this a ton already, but just by chance you haven;t here you go. Get yourself a Head Tracker for when you’re not doing VR. It will help you a TON and make the experience so much better. It’s night and day from looking around using the joystick and it will even help you fly better, especially in helicopters. Also, DCS or Digital Combat Simulator is really, really good for flying helicopters. I have flown choppers in MSFS and they just don’t feel right to me compared to flying in DCS helicopters. Plus you can shoot ATGM’s and rockets and of course Guns, which I’m sure you already know! I just couldn’t leave your video without telling you about the head tracker and DCS because I’d hate myself if you didn’t know about them. So, listen if you’re ever looking to fly online with someone give me a shout. I try to fly as much as I can but sometimes can’t due to back issues and I also fly laying down on the bed due to those same back issues! I just setup my HOTAS and everything on the bed & it works fairly well. It’s a pain in the butt to setup every time I want to fly but no big deal. However if I can I’d be honored to fly with you and if you need help with anything or have a question about DCS or whatever, I’m all ears. Can’t promise I’ll know the answer but I’ll try my hardest to get you an answer. So great video and thank you for sharing this. I think the whole thing looks really nice and it was a great review. I appreciate your honesty in sharing the bad along with the good. There’s a lot of sim people out there that won’t do that for fear of making the developer upset, so that was great to hear and I think you did a fair review, from what I can tell. Received mine three weeks ago and right out of the box the audio crackled and popped and finally made one big crack in the headphones and no more audio. Also mic died as well. Hopefully going back for Return/Replace. Visuals are great but many are having issue ls with audio and having to uninstall and reinstall audio drivers. Unfortunately none of work around worked for me.

Very useful video, I’ve had a Rift S and G2 for years and never needed any additional comfort. The PCL is cumbersome and uncomfortable, if you have a larger nose it really does press on the bridge. I’m going to have to buy some spacers.

Legend now running 128GB been on 64GB for past year with the spare 2 Dims in a draw as was only ever able to get it stable with 2 installed, thanks to you now on quad channel ram

the stock crystal light isn't as comfy as my valve index but I blame that on my very Italian nose. this comfort kit fixes all my issues.

I got my DMAS today and I don't understand this hype around them. Me coming from a high-end Audio system like 800s, ADI-2-DAC FS and costume EQ I am still very disappointed. The Stock one is not good, but the DMAS don't make it better. It sounds muddy with some weird mids that it feels like I listen to audio when I have a cold. Do I oversee something ? Is there any update for CL that I have to make ? I may have high standards, but 110 euro are DMAS not worth in my opinion.

I've purchased the kit from StudioForm a while back for my Crystal Light (Long before I had it), I've also purchased other stuff from them for various HMDs, I have no problem dealing with StudioForm, they make good quality products at reasonable prices. They ship stuff you you quickly also, I ordered and had my package a week and a half later (they are in New Zealand, I'm in Western Canada) That in itself is impressive! 😊

Got my CL last Friday.Because its my first VR I dont have anything to compare it to. Its definately a game changer! I also feel that Im have some focusing issues but honestly I dont know exactly what its suppose to be like anyways having never had one,lol. I set my IPD and dialed in the offsets! IT is very clear but I wonder if its correctly dialed in becuase it seems like its slighty out of focus or something else. stupid question I know but how should it look or feel???

I am new to all of this but thank you for this video. I too am having focus issues but had no idea something was wrong. Thought I just had to deal with it. It feels like I’m living in a fish bowl even when not playing. Reaching out to pimax now.

Also: Got my first Crystal light in the mail some days ago from a german 3rd-party Vendor. Experiencing lots of problems, so returned that und ordered from Pimax directly. Should be here in like 2 weeks. Excited to experience the kind of quality that you are talking about. Also ordered the studioform Facepad + Spacer because I had the same issue that I need to put the headset away a little.

3:00 "this kit". The only kit on their website called "spacer" is said to be for the Crystal, not for the Crystal Light?

I received my CL a month ago. Comfortable right out of the box. No visual problems. Maybe I was lucky. It's hard to describe how great the image is, everything looks so natural and real. Much better than my old Reverb G2.

Problem still exists in the latest Asus Z790 as of September 2024. In fact, I think the newer BIOS made the issue worse over the 2023 BIOS I was using.

I want to get into Vr with new MSFS 2024 coming out. I’m a retarded idiot when it comes to tech and computers. I need an easy to use, easy to configure and a quality product. I was leaning towards the Qwest 3 but now I do not know. I just built my computer last year so it is more than capable of handling either. What are your ( or anyone )thoughts?

This is not unique to DDR5. I have the same problem with my 4 sticks of DDR4 running at full 3600Mts . I had to bring it down to 3400Mts in order for it to boot. All sticks match so its not the problem. This MSI Pro Z690 A DDR4 motherboard is crap. I called MSI and they said they don't support XMP even though its on their motherboards? Makes no sense.

Interesting... I've just returned my Pimax Crystal Light for the same out of focus issue. Aircraft panel instruments in MSFS2020 were sharp but as you say, then looking up or sideways outside looked fuzzy. I also found the tracking laggy and all this makes you feel dizzy. Also the eye overlap was clearly visible and annoying and I did set the IPD properly. Back onmy Quest3 the image was sharp all over and tracking instant. So a Pimax return it was.

Any updates on when the Crystal Super is coming out?

Mu ddwb using gt2 wheel its broken, the gears , activate randomly on the game ,shifter not pused ... And fail.. I not receive ff ..

Another reviewer not talking about horrendous persistence blur when looking around. Yeah it's a great headset if you don't know better. Varjo sets have the EXACT SAME ISSUES. Do Not Buy.

For people who still run into this issue.. not all the settings he provides work 100% of the time. I have 4x 16gb sticks. I managed to get 2 working. 4 is a straight up no go. I used XMP 2 on mine. I also used sync because per pmic would still make it loop for me. So i would suggest trying different combinations of the settings he provides. It can differ per build what works.

I would have loved to get the Crystal light however the lack of decent resolution color passthrough is a hard pass for me. I have a simpit with touch screens, switches, levers, radios, dials, a tablet for Navigraph, etc.., If I cant see my controls then VR is almost worthless to me. I have a pre-order for the crystal light super which is supposed to have MR capability, but in the mean time I will stick with the Quest 3 and SimXR for passthrough. It may not look quite as great as the Pimax but it is much more functional for complex simpits, and still a better experience than 2D.

I just bought the none controller edition. Haven't received it yet but I'm wondering if I am going to be able to reset position easily without being able to hold the controller button? I'll be using for msfs and dcs only.

Who is installing armory crate? Just inflated and trash software not needed. Run Turbo or custom bios fan controls and many better hardware controllers exist to do lighting.

Why do all reviews talk about audio on these headsets? Who actually even uses them? I just want to know if there's a audio jack. Hook up your own headset and boom easy fix.

You missed one huge issue: The XR-4 requires an internet connection for some reason. The screen goes blank if there is no internet. What's the connection for? Is it sharing 3D scans of your entire room/business, your microphone, eye scans, or your computer contents? Who knows?

Great review. It’s really detailed, which is how a review should be. I love my Quest 3, but I’ve had to replace it 3 times since I got it in October. I normally play PCVR anyway. I really don’t want to get something with base stations since I live in a college apartment and real estate is limited. What would you recommend for a PCVR headset without base station tracking? I thought this would be a good option if it came down to it, but wasn’t sure if something else was out there.

Just got the Crystal Light a few days ago, going from HP Reverb G2, the HP is great, but the Crystal Light display is better. Appreciate the tip for audio, tried to order headset upgrade but sold out, waiting for notification. I have 20/20 far vision, but only need reading glasses to see small print. With the HP, the focal point is infinity, so I don't need corrective lenses, however the Crystal Light focuses slightly too close, so I had to order lens inserts and a face mask kit to offset the HMD. I tested it first wearing my glasses, it's so sharp and clear the objects look real. The 3080 RTX and Ryzen 7 giving excellent results. Still keeping mine, the problems seem to be workable. We'll see after I get the lens inserts and mask kit.

After lesst than a week, i believe my lens showing the same behaviour. I do have a 1m focal lenght glasses for my computer which is that distance. So everything is clear, but I get terrible eye strain when looking into the distance. There but not as much in the cockpit. When i revert back to my Pico with my distance spectacles, I can stay in it for hours. Just need to do more testing, before i raise a ticket. Many thanks for the video, without it I'm not sure i would have though this as a flaw. Headset is amazing clarity/comfort/contrast, fingers crossed they can sort it.
