Looks like pairs work, not Kumite. One person attacks then stands still while the defender does their deflections, throws and holds. Not really free fighting. So is it based on points on technical skill?

Oss

So I don't understand this... is it meant to be choreographed so much?
@TomTao5 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is. It's meant to be a choreographed demonstration of techniques. Obviously we do not show sparring in the video.

Choi Yong-Sool (최용술)'s training in martial arts is a subject of contention. It is known that Choi was sent to Japan as a young boy and returned to Korea with techniques characteristic of Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu, a forerunner of aikido.

What a GREAT VIDEO and GREAT EXPERIENCE!! Good for you guys!! Congrats! :D Great kicks and board-breaking and defense techniques during the competition. And the 720 dura-chagi!!! OMG, I wish I could learn and do that too! It's such an AMAZING combo-kick, because it's like 2 or 3 feints and then the delivering blow. So very deadly, this one!! And I know EXACTLY what he means by "like a light switch" that turns on; when you are trained by the BEST, they show you that ONE LITTLE THING that gives you awareness, understanding, and a push where suddenly you FEEL IT!! Right? It's amazing when you learn something new and your mind is awakened -- but doubly so when your BODY learns something new and is awakened. :) Happy Hapkido, guys!

Hapkido reminds me taekwondo
@who301tent4155 жыл бұрын
It has some of it's elements in it, as far as some of the kicks. But it is more like Akijitsu. Taekwondo is a considered a harder style , why Hapkido is considered a softer flowing style. It is very effective for self defense.
@bluehornet1975 жыл бұрын
2 very different styles lol I don't see how you see taekwondo in hapkido but there 2 VERY different styles they both come from Korea lol I trained in taekwondo for 2yrs and I was pretty damn good at it under 15s I was the 3rd best in the state both for Canberra and NSW I was also the 5th best in my country under 15s but sorry i digress I'm ranting lol but yeah Taekwondo is the Korean kickboxing equivalent
