At the end of your video, your heater only shows 2 of the 3 blue lights on. Mine on install shows the same two lights. If the bottom element light is of, is that an error or does it eventually come on post install?

It’s working correctly, it depends on at which stage the water is being heated

I don’t have an exact name because I colored matched the house at home depot, it’s a charcoal gray though!

Dude you were the one that showed us all the steps that had to be done before connecting the electricity, yet you didn't even perform the last step yourself of running the hot water faucets throughout the house to make sure the water heater was completely filled!
@inhaleexhaleКүн бұрын
I believe my plumber did not follow that third step of running the hot water faucets inside the house to ensure that the water heater was completely filled. What kinds of problems could this cause? I ask because the water isn't hot enough and it is a brand new electric water heater.

Not sure if you’re being serious but a professional would charge 10k for a similar structure (including metal roof). It’s 80% in labor costs.

It was mainly because the water pressure in the home was 100psi when I bought it. I had a pressure reducing valve installed on the water main.

@taylor.g.deloyeАй бұрын
It depends on which element is currently on and heating the water. I believe at the time, I had just turned it on so water was being heated at the top before being released into the main tank.

I’m really glad I came across your video! I’ve been thinking about buying a new home (built between 2018-2025), but I’ve heard a lot of negative feedback about newer homes. So lately, I’ve been leaning toward buying an older house in the future-maybe in the next four to six years. I don’t want to just rely on other people’s opinions, though, so I’m wondering how I can personally learn to spot a well-built home and understand what to look for. Since I’ve never built a house before, I’m not sure where to start. Any advice on how to ‘peel back the layers’ and get a better understanding of what makes a home solid? 😅
@taylor.g.deloyeАй бұрын
One thing to keep in mind is that new constructions come with a warranty (usually 1 year) from the builder, and there are also additional warranties offered for peace of mind. Most homes built between 1960-1990 are going to be well built and are less likely to cause issues, but that is a broad statement and you truly never know. One recommendation is to start watching every home inspection video you can find on KZbin, then you'll be an expert in looking for issues when you start looking to buy a home. Go to every Open House you see in your neighborhood and get comfortable looking around and develop an eye for real estate. Good luck with buying your future house!

Are REITs an alternative to direct ownership?

Yes but REITs are basically like stocks for real estate. There is no substitute for actually owning property, you just have to invest in the right properties!

@@taylor.g.deloye I don`t know yet. I`m thinking to wait for tax reasons. Or maybe to do 1031 exchange but the issue with that is that most multi family homes are very old and treated like atm machines. They didn`t maintain them well and they are not up to codes. The ones are worth to consider in good areas are super expensive.
@taylor.g.deloyeАй бұрын
@@Sheila06854you can also 1031 into a SFH if you want to move away from multi family. The timeline is very aggressive though, you have to know exactly which property you want to buy. It is challenging. Do the long term math and see if your property is worth keeping! Of course, consider the mental health element as well!

I just installed my water heater today with the help of this video. I noticed my TP valve was turned towards the hot line on my old unit so that was a little concerning but I made due without turning it on the new unit. I was quoted $2500 by a local company and decided I would try it myself since the water heater was only $600.

Yes...from the picture it's the same lower-quality "Performance" line of Rheem heaters you get from a box store...that you are now replacing with the same unit. However, you can get what LOOKS like the same unit....but is labelled "Professional" ...and those are higher quality with brass drain valves and more...and THESE are installed by pro plumbing company installers . Big question.....can a DIY guy buy the Pro series?.... or are these ONLY available when installed through a professional installer? Also this on your vid--> - just because you killed the breaker.....doesn't mean the breaker is properly labelled. STILL check to see with a meter that the power is off at the heater... have seen many wrong panel labels. - draining the tank?...why not attach a hose instead of draining into the pan? - electrical tape will not create a waterproof connection nor will it add any attachment security when wire nuts are used properly.
@floverdevel2 ай бұрын
4:30 you MUST put the power off BEFORE draining the tank or else you will damage the heater inside the tank.
