Good ear. The mount was loose on my 360 camera. It's a metal mount, and it "clacks" when it's loose. Thank you for watching.

Trek needs to ditch ThruSkew axles. These bikes are "fitness hybrids" that cannot be mounted to a direct drive fitness trainer. I bought an FX Sport 5 in 2023, and I was pretty annoyed to learn about that stupidity.
@GetOutArizona4 сағат бұрын
We agree, this is why Brandon makes mention of it at the end of the video. Why Trek felt it was necessary to implement this design is beyond us. Thank you for taking the time to watch our video and leave your feedback. Both are appreciated.

This bike sucks. I had one. Pedaling on flat felt like hauling a boat anchor. Not the weight, I do mtb the weight is not the problem but it felt like it didn’t matter how hard I pedaled the bike wouldn’t gain speed. It sucked

Why wouldn't it be relevant ???
@GetOutArizona2 күн бұрын
This is a great question, Jay and I appreciate you taking the time to watch our video and ask. Relevancy seems to be a ubiquitous term these days. A new version or generation of a certain product is released, and some people feel this makes the preceding model irrelevant. This is often not the case. We made this video to illustrate the fact that even though there is a Gen 4 version of this bike, this Gen 3 is still very capable in 2025.

Any recommendations on a bike trainer for the Marlin 5? I’m having a hard time finding one to fit the 29” tires.
@GetOutArizona2 күн бұрын
This is a great question, thank you for asking. Unfortunately, the trainers that will accommodate a 29" wheel will only accommodate a 29x1.5. Which, of course, is not a realistic size for an MTB. However, I used to use the KICKR Core for both my road and MTB bikes, and it worked great. The issue is you have to remove your rear wheel and mount it to the trainer. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help to you. Here is the link for the KICKR Core. It is not an affiliate link. www.wahoofitness.com/devices/indoor-cycling/bike-trainer-bundles/zwift-bundles/kickr-core-zwift-buy

Hey, Adam, I assume you are reffering to the cresent wrench that Brandon is using. It is a 14" cresent wrench, and that is reffering to the legth of the wrench. You could use a 10" or 12" one as well but you would have less leverage. Great question. Thank you for asking and watching.

Nice video. Here in Britain i bought a Trek Marlin 6 Gen 3, nice bike (although i won't buy trek again because of their policy of advertising a brand new bike with new components, but equipping the bike with last years old components without telling you. And no, a tiny disclaimer on a hard to find web page doesn’t excuse you). Anyway, day eight I upgraged pedals and grips for £60. (US $75) DMR V11 (plus some Five Tens) for unrivalled grip. Ergon GE1 Evo grips (instantly cured wrist pain).

How does the promaster XC-M525CK compare to a Manfrotto Befree GT XPro tripod? Trying to decide which offers the most bang for the buck. Thanks for any help you can share.
@GetOutArizona11 күн бұрын
This is a great question mark, and I appreciate you asking. Unfortunately, I do not have any direct experience with the Manfrotto Befree, so I cannot comment from a place of direct knowledge. Manfrotto has always maintained a good reputation in the industry, though I have always found them a bit expensive for what you get. From a personal standpoint, I choose not to use Manfrotto tripods due to their mounting system. Arca Swiss is more widely used and easily accessible on the road, should I need a replacement plate.

So, to absorb the road vibrations on an AL bike you need larger heavier tires? Which means that on a carbon bike you can you smaller lighter tires for same or better comfort?
@GetOutArizona11 күн бұрын
It's not quite that simplistic. Lager, more supple tires on an aluminum frame help ease the stress of low-frequency vibrations and assist in dampening any ride. With the eliminate all issues associated with this common problem no. Conversely, I would reduce the weight of my rim set before I reduced my tire size on a carbon frame. This way, I'm not sacrificing any potential gains in comfort. Great question, and thank you for asking.

I “wandered” into the Trek shop on Black Friday and stumbled upon a medium 9.8 XT that was marked down for the sale. At least that’s what I told my wife. When they offered an additional 10% off I had to get it. This is my first full squish after 5 years on a hardtail and I love it so far. First upgrade will be better tires.
