If I can get my 2016 madone down to the UCI limit (over a kg lighter than this bike) and its within a rounding error in terms of aero why would I ever buy this?
@GetOutArizona6 күн бұрын
I believe that was the Gen 6 Madone, which has a different geometry and aerodynamic foil than this generation. That said, if someone already had the 2016 Madone and it was still performing for them, that would be a tough justification, considering the price of upgrading. However, for someone who does not already own a Madone and is looking to purchase one, I'd be hard-pressed to recommend a pre-owned version that is two generations old. In the end, neither solution is a losing one and is subjective to the rider and the budget. Ryan, thank you for taking the time to watch and contribute to the conversation constructively. Bike safely, my friend.

Is this a Madone or an Emonda? Apart from that the seat post, I think it is more Emonda but they just kept the Madone name. That would explain the gear ratio to a certain extent I guess. I’m an Emonda rider so may be biased. Either way, sweet looking bike

The idea that some 'special' allen key is some sort of theft protection is ridiculous. So easy to get one of the keys walk around a parking lot looking for a 1Up and whip that bad boy off in 10s. Kinda pissed when I bought my HD 1Up that they no longer put the plate with a vertical hole where you can put a lock across the head of the allen bolt on the hitch bar.
@GetOutArizona8 күн бұрын
Jon, I appreciate you watching the video and taking the time to leave your feedback. I know 1UP also keeps up with the comments. However, I can't rightfully address your second grievance, as I am not an employee of 1UP and have nothing to do with design changes. As for the first part of your feedback, the security Allen bolt is meant to be a deterrent, not a silver bullet against theft. I'm willing to bet most thieves are not carrying around a safety Allen key, let alone the proper size to fit this particular bolt. Though I will concede that it wouldn't be difficult to acquire. But based on your argument about why it would be ineffective, why lock your bike? Any thief with bolt cutters or a grinder could cut the cable/lock and be off in 10 seconds. Again, I appreciate your watching the video and constructively leaving feedback. Adventure safely, my friend.

I have a trek FX5. I ride MTB primarily but wanted a general get around town and bike path bike. After riding the FX5 for a few years….everytime I ride this bike I find myself saying “I love this bike!!” it”s so smooth and comfortable to put miles on. Many of my rides are about 30 or so miles, both solo and with groups. The FX5 when riding with my drop bar road bike friend does make me work alittle harder than my friends, the gearing, the tires, the more upright geometry well it is not a road bike. However…I have no problem doing everything those on road bikes are doing. On gravel it is everything I’m looking for but being a MTB rider with several MTB’s I tend to ride them when off pavement and the trails are what I target. In conclusion the FX5 has filled the requirements of what I wanted it to do. I’m not a speed ultra distance rider and with some neck issues comfort is more important to me so the FX is perfect. I’ve added some frame baggage, a light set up, a different saddle, and will be swapping out the stock tires to a tubeless 700x30 something soon with less road resistance since pavement is where I’m primarily riding this.
