I spent many years crouched over like that tying steel, the only time you stood up straight you were either prefabing columns and beams or carrying steel on your shoulder, a brutally hard way to make a living but one you will never forget.

I was a Rod buster for 5 years my respects to all those still tying steel. It's very hard work. It was fun at times too we would race on who would tie the fastest and drink beer on hot days.In those 5 years it took me too realize that being a rod buster was going to kick my behind and seeing the older cats how messed their backs were too. I remember days of punking and tying steel all day and getting home and dropping on the floor to rest as soon as I walked in the livingroom. This video is edited to make it look easy and light. Now I'm a handyman I still run into rebar slabs every now and then.
@oroboros882 жыл бұрын
That’s why I weight lift and stretch/eat healthy. Rebar work is manageable long term body wise but you have to take care of yourself, too many guys in the field with absolutely piss poor health and no idea how to lift and bend properly
@miguel64ramirez63 Жыл бұрын
You can eat healthy all day stretch every morning and bend correctly. With time it'll catch up to you rebar has no respect for no human body you will learn that with time guaranteed. but my props to you and all the rod busters out there.

I agree. Rod Busting is the hardest job in the trades. I have been a carpenter roofer, a furniture mover in Florida in the summer (that was straight up brutal) but robusting is still the hardest job I ever did. I'm 44 now and going in to get a total disc replacement t of my L5 S1 so maybe it wasn't worth it lol

I remember a rod buster foreman on large project that was small, wirey, and strong as an ox. He could handle large dia. rods like they were toys. When his crew were tying slabs, he would say "All I want to see is ass holes and elbows".

@SpencyP922 жыл бұрын
Did I really just watch 4 people lift like 6-7 7 meter 15m bars? Lol…also, I’m not sure what this trade is like down south. But in Canada, especially on bridges, even if the slab is tied 50-100%, we can’t do a single twist and snip. Minimum 3 twists per tie, that gets inspected alone lol
@ShowtimeHawaii2 жыл бұрын
I bet if I were to kick the bar it would just bust those ties lol
