I wonder why there aren't any "EMERGENCY RUNS" for certain figures like Transformers Siege Skywarp & Greenlight? Those 2 shot up to over $300. Hasbro really needed to do a re-run but never did. But a lot of figures that don't need a re-run gets one. McFarlane Knightfall Catwoman could use a re-run. And some of the MOTU Origins Mattel Creations exclusives like Camo-Khan need a re-run. I've been collecting toys since 1977 and after being in it for that long, I think the toy companies are simply clueless & out of touch. They can look online & see that Siege Skywarp is selling for over $300 and say "Hey! That one needs a re-run". But instead, they re-run Siege Soundwave, Kingdom Galvatron & Legacy Evolution Metal-Hawk. 3 figures that did not need a re-run at all.

Happened to me with warbird, darksied and batman and robin.

Thanks, though I sort of disagree with the your point with scalpers. i think the low runs helps them, as it improves their position and profits as the only way to get the figures. The scalpers r still buying the same number of toys, but now that's a bigger % of the total and quicker sellout.

Finding your favorite action figure at ROSS, Big Lots, or Olies is never a good sign. I work for a company that has things made overseas. The overseas factory has limited capacity. If a corporation isn't making any profit from an item they will have their overseas factory make something else. Something more profitable.

Idiots seem to think that there are 100's of thousands of scalpers out there when there just arent. The scalper has become this mythical, inflated bogeyman that is buying up everyone's toys and it just isnt true, a simple ebay search reveals this. Lots of people collect and pre orders sell out, thats the reason for pre orders. If everyone could just get one when they came out why invent the pre order? There is never enough stock for certain figures and we only ever focus on the stuff that sells out and not the stuff that doesnt (which is far more common)

This wouldn't be an issue if Hasbro would just keep repacking high demand characters until demand is met but they will repack skiff lando and ahsoka over and over and over again while blink and you miss it releases with high reseller markups never see another repack.

When you mentioned allocation, I love that explanation. What's even worse about it, is that if you call the main manufacturer to complain, they will claim that the 3rd party (Nerdzoic, BBTS, etc) that you purchased it from is the one the cancelled the order and they had nothing to do with it. They don't take responsibility for their limited allocation. And then that makes the customer mad at the Store, when the frustration should be focused on the manufacturer.

This information isn't new news, 2019 Hasbro said they were cutting production back on major lines like Marvel Legends and Star Wars so after that you'd see less and less, look at Target Marvel Legends are usually always empty but some collectors are still blaming "storage containers"

At this point, both between the almighty budget and these smaller runs on figures, my system has become: -If its a must-have, pre-order on minute one, stay up a couple hours after night shift to get order in. Either at a BBTS or Nerdzoic if i can put the money down now -If it's not a 100% must-have and pre-orders close day one, pretend it doesnt exist until in-stock dates come up and we get a small run on in stock to decide if i *need* it in the collection

I recently bought a NECA Robocop action figure, it was $144 but the funny thing was it dropped to $60 but after I checked it went back up to $144, and I'm like WTF ?' online stores such as Amazon need to stop doing this.

I always get a figure i want so i dont stress too much about sell outs . If i have to pay a little more then thats part of the toy game . And preorders suck since it has caused the demise of the hunt that used to be a major part of toy collecting .

Great Video, Big Nerdy. I was expecting to see the pendulum swing after the recent clearance deluge. I agree, it would be nice if the toy company would not over correct. Let me know if you end up with extra Captain Rex figures. I’d be a buyer 😎👍

It’s also a combination of FOMO and Hype. It happens constantly with shoes. Follow the way sneaker heads have been doing it for years and you’ll notice the same trend now with action figures. There are literally garages full of “expensive bricks” that are not moving. You see them at the swap meet with stacks and stacks of products that don’t move. Everyone has the same thing so naturally people will shop around for the cheapest price. Collectors are smarter, I’m sure everyone is checking eBay last solds, action figure 411 , availability at big box stores online, etc. Then there’s scalpers, then someone who bought a case of six to get the chase and dumps the rest, then the hoarders, all jumping online to hope they gambled right and get a jackpot on the next big thing. I also see a lot of people recycling their money instead of making money, these are the most dangerous imo because it’s the thrill of making a few bucks by buying selling trading the “new” to get “more product that they can now trade or sell for”. The toy never gets played with, it gets moved or traded or sold 3 or more times before it actually gets in the hands of someone who actually wants it. It’s not going to stop or slow down, we just gotta get used to it now and get better at focusing on what we actually want to collect, not get the next new thing to try and make money.

This is why I never play the clearance chicken game. If I want something, I preorder it. If I change my mind, I'll return after I have it in hand. No drama, no dealing with scalpers, easy peasy.

Most figures I am interested in sell out in less than 5-10 minutes. Its a huge bummer when the order window opens when I am at work 😅
